Can I get an ok blender for £50?

I'll need it to make smoothies, dice onions etc etc

Last one we got was absolutely useless, so I'm trying to avoid another mistake!

Should be no problem. But don't dice onions with a machine, none of them do it right, and then you have to clean the machine... do it by hand instead. I can fine dice a whole onion with a sharp knife in less than a minute.

Here's how...

It'll blend onions, not dice them.

What do you need it to do specifically?

I've just bought one of these... http://www.johnlewis.com/store/kenwood-triblade-hb...

I have to say it's fantastic. So far I've made numerous smoothies, curry paste, mashed potato, meringue and strawberry sauce type stuff (the mrs made those).

Everything I've done has been excellent and sounds up your street. At 700w it's extremely powerful.

That's the one I've got in stick form. I've got a Wahl conventional blender which is also quite good.

Wareing are the business though, apparently, although not in budget.

I was going to recommend a Hamilton Beach blender but having just Googled the price of a new one, slightly out of budget. We had 4 of them on the boat.

Now over £700 each. yikes

Cheers everyone, I went for this bad boy and I'm really impressed. We had a Teefal one a couple of years ago that was £80 and this one kicks it s butt!
