Just seen this thread, got hungry, then remembered I took some pictures of my recent steak antics.

All meat from my Auntie & Uncles farm on Alderney, some of the best beef I've ever eaten!

Cote De Boeuf pan cooked, melted like butter!

Fillet BBQ's, first attempt every at fillet on a BBQ, happy with the result and the taste was insane.

Pan cooked fillet, again, like butter and tasted superb. Fried off the asparagus in the butter and meat juice, and oversquished the potatoes!

Just no, they specialise in lean meats and none of the steaks are of a decent size or look especially appetising. Fat is flavour, if you want a good steak then buy it from a decent butcher. Not from muscle food.

Mrs Tickle picked some ribeye on the bone up for us on Friday. Our local farm butchers does ribeye for £27/kg.

These two were just over £30. Not sure if that is cheap or expensive compared to other places but they are nice!

Place in Manchester City Centre called The Butcher’s Quarter. First time I’ve tried it. To be honest, I was put off by the prices. Having said that, I’m a tight Northern monkey.

I think there is a shortage of good city centre butchers in Manchester, the one you mention in the NQ seems the only decent one (that I am aware of).

Kungfupanda - I’m a tight northerner too - but live down south.

Specialist butchers mentioned on the bbq thread (lovely meat but a bit expensive)

Turner and George Butchers in Islington .... £42/Kg for ribeye bone/in (not sure if same as a Tomohawk steak

A picture shamelessly stolen from The Butcher's Quarter FB page to give an indication of their prices.

Outback Steakhouse Las Vegas. Slow roast prime rib served rare. It was like eating a cloud!

When I was much younger, and visited the US to see my brother, I hated rare meat, regularly sending prime rib back as it wasn't "well done"! laugh
NOW though, I bloody love it. Your dinner looks ace! lick

If you are in/near Kent you could try Rooks who deliver.

Thank you.

Crouch's also pretty good too, albeit a bit further, Wadhurst might be nearest. Quite a nice drive anyway.

From memory, the individual Beef Wellingtons were £6 ea, for comparison. They do some great meat and multi pack deals, bbq packs, and the pies weigh in at 1kg. As well as good quality meat, obviously. https://www.crouch-butchers.co.uk/

Cheers - have bought a few bits over the years when I worked down near Tonbridge from Ian Chatfield Butchers - lovely Boerewors/South African inspired bbq packs etc.
