Anyone here tried the carnivore diet?
I just finished a month of "beef, salt, water". I've lost 4kg that you wouldn't think I had to lose, dropped a jeans size to 32", and I need a new hole in my belt. All while eating a surplus averaging 500 kcal per day according to MFP. I've just today reintroduced eggs, and tinned mackerel in olive oil for some cheap variety, but otherwise I'm going to carry on.grumbledoak said:

Aha, jolly good, the old 30 day trial huh; a few questions:What set you off on it, Shawn Baker, or Jordan Peterson or some other?
the weight loss, fat? You looks pretty ripped?
Did you make sure you got enough fat? Fatty cuts, ribeyes?
ablutions..ahem, in this area, they cut down in frequency, no issues going?
Did you source your meat locally?

Yeah, Shawn Baker https://twitter.com/SBakerMD and L. Amber O'Hearn https://twitter.com/KetoCarnivoreWhat set you off on it, Shawn Baker, or Jordan Peterson or some other?

The weight loss seems to be mostly fat loss; I'm not fully ripped but the belly fat is the lowest I've had in decades. I might even try eating less to reduce it further.
I aim for fatty cuts like ribeye and make a conscious effort to eat the fat.
Observations: they aren't joking - you eat a bonkers amount of steak for the first three weeks. I mean seven steaks a day and wondering about having another...
And nothing comes out the other end. It all just gets "used". Still not even every day now.
There isn't anything local to me! I tried organic delivery, but it is expensive and it vanishes so quickly. So, it's supermarket "3 for £10" and take two to work each day for lunch to keep the costs down.
Definitely worth trying. I even gave up coffee for it; and I'm a double espresso guy. That was a tough two days.
I am really really pleased with these sirloins ive been getting recently. They are from M&S believe it or not, £10 for iirc 450g steak which is about an inch thick! they are the best sirloin i have ever had, better than any butcher i have tried and they are consistent, fed up with butchers palming me off with rump when asking for rib eye (yes really) and badly cut.
oh how thick do you want it? yep bit thicker mate, bit thicker, its almost like they dont believe it want it at least an inch thick, they then proceed to cut and it tapers down from an inch to about 6mm!
Came out perfect this one!

That's not healthy, no matter how you look at it. Your body should be excreting waste, and it needs fibre to do this correctly. And nothing comes out the other end. It all just gets "used". Still not even every day now.
This doesn't seem like a sensible diet...

OT why not just run the keto diet. It works. Any low carb diet works well.
For fat loss, yeah sure. carno is an extreme version, but there are/may be other things going on when one does it, which is partyl where my interest lies, but fat loss is good too.If/when I do it, it'll be for a short term. Since there seem to be conflicting info on whether keto is healthy ling-term.

just wondering... would it work with bacon instead of steaks?
I don't think bacon has enough fat, bu it has a lot of nitrates. I think limiting processed meat as much as posisble is probably best long termthis may help with question on how much fat

No it doesn't. Any mental image you have of needing or wanting your colon cleaned by some sort of natural Brillo pad should be dropped; your insides are more delicate than that. You want fluid for constipation, not fibre:https://www.nature.com/articles/ajg201373
Fibre is just an indigestible irritant to the colon. The 'fibre' sold in cardboard boxes in the supermarkets is often just a waste product from making something else. Eat enough of it and you will grow bacterial colonies that do digest the fibre - you do get some fatty acids as a by-product, alongside bloating, sometimes painful, and evil smelling gas. A fair amount of your poo is actually dead bacteria. No fibre = no bacteria = much less to come out.
And back to the steaks:

That's very interesting - thanks for sharing.https://www.nature.com/articles/ajg201373

To the chap who just simply stopped poo'ing, you're not doing your body any good.
I am not sure I should mention this here in fear of being hung drawn and quartered, however, has anyone air fried their steak?
I bought a new Philips Air Fryer with the griddle insert and tried a cheap bit of steak in there. The result was very, very surprising. So much so I am thinking of putting a decent cut in there now
