The prices were a bit on the steep side but we split the tomahawk between two and it was delicious and very well cooked.

Just a simple sirloin on the gas bbq and garlic & herb butter.

Sorry the photos wonky, no idea how to resolve that

Found a butcher that slaughters on site. Got this NY strip for $30. No idea of the size but cooked it was enough to feed me twice and I’m a big eater.

Guilty pleasure and may explain my size.

I didn’t partake in Pete’s sauce but the wife did.

We we’re recently in Vilamoura, these Portuguese have a knack for a great steak!

First one doesn’t look all that, but probably one of the best I’ve ever had. Those are not chicken nuggets, but potatoes!

The best one was on the last night. Place looked good on TA, but this steak amazing, the sauce was on point too. Medium rare, red in the middle but texture like it was cooked through rather than raw. Wondering if it was one of those water bath cooking jobbies?

Also had beef stew, delicious.

Beautiful! Did you dry fry, or did you use oil/butter?

I'd love to get a crust like that at home...sadly my hob is a bit st so I can't get the pan properly smoky or else the fire alarm will go off

The pan was dry but the steak had canola oil rubbed on to it. The hob does have seriously hefty burners though which helps get the temperature of the pan up.

First cook on the Kamado a few weeks ago - hence the clean interior.

C.1kg bone-in rib-eye. Slow cooked to medium rare then seared over direct heat for a couple of minutes each side. Looked, smelled and tasted fantastic.

1st one is Mr Freddies. Lovely little courtyard with a fountain, but a lot of bugs so take some spray! Less than €100 for 2 steaks, couverts and a bottle of wine.

2nd is Julius just off the marina in Vilamoura. Less than €100 for 2 steaks, couverts and a bottle of wine.

We used to be regulars in Akvavit, great place, the in-laws had an apartment above it. There are some great steak places on the algarve, around the marina is good but expensive. There’s a place we go to now that’s €15 for a cracking steak but it’s a big off the beaten track.

Very happy. It's a Kamado Joe Classic 3 - I'm quite sure the much cheaper Aldi version does a very similar job but I like mine biggrin

It is fantastic slow cooking over wood. Really satisfying and it imparts a great flavour lick Holding temperature is straight forward enough but patience is required... I cooked a pork but and it took 15 hours... ! laugh
