How do others clean the inside of the milk intake tube on the nespresso lattissima? I'd like a small brush of some sort to clean the inside of the tube out, anyone got any tips on which to buy or what method they use?
I just stick it on a prong in the dishwasher once a week.Insert Coin said:
I always say this, try the Cafe Pod ones, not much cheaper but they are decent imo.
I've tried a pack of them. Have to say I wasn't that impressed, but that's only because I think the blend I chose wasn't to my liking.I'd try them again if I was stuck but I like pretty much all of the Nespresso blends so tend to stick to them.
Which of the Cafe Pod varieties do you recommend?
I've had my Nespresso machine for almost nine years, and prefer the Nespresso pods. The third-party pods vary - Cafepod are tolerable, available in Waitrose and often on offer. Waitrose have their own-brand pods, which are also quite drinkable - not as good as Nespresso's own but still a decent cup of coffee.
My favourite third-party pods are Marks and Spencer Columbian, which are on a par with Nespresso's own. The attraction with third-party pods is that they are easy to pick up while out shopping, whereas ordering from Nespresso is more of a faff.
I also use Dualit pods, available from Costco, which are useful if you're making a latte or using milk, which masks the shortcomings of the coffee.

My main problem with the cheap pods is that they simply don't work. The coffee is watery, the cream is almost non-existent and the granules get through into the cup. The Aldi ones I've had are not as good as the proper stuff, but are 1/3 of the price and do actually work which is sufficient for me to drink them if I'm just having a coffee with milk.
However, Nespresso ones are still king I'd say.

I need to place an order for capsules soon - usually like to dabble with the limited editions for something different. For clarity, I'm not talking about variations here (apfel strudel or any such bks).
Anyone tried the 2014 vintage and is it worth a shot? Inner cynic reckons they're trying to sell old stock in an inventive way..!

Just ordered another 50 2014 Vintage. Really like the flavour - great depth and lovely richness. Anyone tried the 2014 vintage and is it worth a shot? Inner cynic reckons they're trying to sell old stock in an inventive way..!
Each to his own taste of course- one of the most unusual nespresso flavours that i like was the Sachertorte variation. G/F loves it as a cappuchino.
2014s are tasty! A slight chocolatey note to my senses. The 50% premium is always a question with these limited ones...!
I also picked up a descaling kit and would recommend. My Krups U machine which I have had about 4 yrs was making horrible noises when closing around the capsule. It also recently broke an internal nozzle part which resulted in all the coffee going into the capsule bucket (fixed with some YouTube help).
After descaling the noise has gone and the coffee goes through quicker. I niaively thought that scale wouldn't be much of an issue here where the water is pretty soft.
I am sure I could have saved myself £7 though and put some diluted vinegar or citric acid through it!

Anyone tried www.finecoffeeclub.co.uk ? Friend gave me a flyer for a £19 for 100 capsules, no strings attached offer (normally £25.65).

Yes. Not going to reorder. Right, liberated the Inissia from my bosses office. The selection pack that it came with are untouched and out of date, seems it's been gathering dust for a while. There were a few in date Vanilla pods so gave them a try, not bad but not amazing either.
Seems there is a Nespresso shop in Leeds city centre now so I'll pay them a visit soon. What pods do you folks reccomend?

I descaled my Pixie for the first time this morning. It too is quieter and quicker so worth doing even if it did leak all over the worktop every time it 'descaled'. According to Severn Trent our water is 'slightly hard' so it was probably overdue.I am sure I could have saved myself £7 though and put some diluted vinegar or citric acid through it!

After nearly 10 years we've setting on just buying Roma, Arpeggio and Ristretto. None of the others hit the spot as consistently.
Same here, with odd sleeves for a bit of variety. They're exactly the ones I've reordered already, having only had the machine a couple of months.
