OK, so I am a complete novice with these machines, but having had some at a friends house I'm convinced we need to move away from the freeze dried rubbish and paying 3-4 quid a time in starbucks.

My wife and I generally like longer drinks with and without milk / foam (Her americano, me Cappuccino).

I am very lazy, so like things to be as easy as possible. Easy to use, clean etc..

Budget is flexible but probably limited to 300 quid tops.

What machine would you recommend for my criteria?

We have a Pixie and aeroccino, work fine for our needs. Aeroccino is brilliant for frothy perfection in 70 seconds, using cold semi skilled......

Are you all using standard serving sizes, or have you customised for your chosen drinking vessel?

Thanks for the reply.

I ended up going for the package of the Citiz with the milk frother thing. Looking forward to setting it up and getting going!

Milk frother will work fine for you then, i'd suggest boiling water from the kettle with an espresso in the top to make an americano rather than trying to get hot water out of the machine which never seems as efficient.

All, after spending many hours trying to read as many of these pages as possible would you be so kind as to confirm my assumption that a Nespresso machine is what I need.

I enjoy a nice coffee from good quality independent coffee shops, and got quite addicted to one near me until I moved recently, now I only have Starbucks and similar to choose from and am missing the pleasure of a good quality cappuccino.

I tend to have a flat white, cappuccino (though a proper one with not much milk) or an espresso

I'm very tempted by a Nespresso due to the apparent ease of use and the variety of coffee on offer.

So would the Inissia and Aeroccino - currently £50 if you order £50 of pods - suffice in providing coffee of a good enough quality to enjoy? Or would I be better holding off and getting a Bean to Cup machine?

Thanks for your insights!

At £100 including 80 or so pods I'd say it's worth a punt, you can always sell it on after. The convenience and ease of use combined with the lack of cleaning compared to a bean to cup machine makes me a big fan of the pods.

We have been using Nespresso machines for quite a few years.
Originally used a Gaggia beans to cup machine along with various bean suppliers (Illy, Lavazza etc). The big advantages of Nespresso being -

1/. Takes up a lot less space
2/. Easy to clean
3/. Can run different flavour/strength coffee without a major phaff.
4/. Can make coffee and frothy milk at the same time.

Also like to mention the new AEROCCINO 4 that seems to make an even better froth than previous model and all parts excluding the base are dishwasher safe.

OK there may be machines that cost and arm and a leg and take a month of Sundays to clean but Nespresso suits our home and work life.

All,

To close the loop - picked up the Inissia (sp?), and used the current offers to pick up the Discovery 250 box set and getting the free Aeroccino, and a free gift for joining as a member.

Happy with the deal, only a few of the samples so far - first impressions are well worth it and it's going to be a staple in the routine.

Added value is I've found a machine at work so can take pods into use for a midday fix.

Thanks for the help!

I've got 4 sleeves of the Barista weak and middle strength pods. Liked both and was kicking myself for not stocking up on the pink 2014 ltd edition ones as they were my favourite to drink. The strongest one contains a hint of liquorice and I personally don't like that taste so it was a no from me.

Ok not quite Nespresso but I have just bought one of these, Keurig 425.
So what, well the issue is I'm at a base in the middle of Afghanistan and the PX here just got 5 in (God bless the US of A!). Never heard of the brand myself but looking online its going for $157 whereas I paid $129.
Bit restricted what pods I can get, they only do a Breakfast Blend in the PX which is actually quite nice but as I can get US Amazon out here I've just ordered 120 pods.
Main thing I worry about is heat but this you can change the setting and at max hot setting I put a thermometer and it was 199F. Easy to operate and not noisy. Trouble is its 110v so no way I can take it back.

They are popular in the states where there is a vast range of coffee. We had on in a rental we were staying in, the Starbucks and Dunkin Donuts coffee was just like what you'd get in there shops. I was quite impressed with it.

They were on offer at Tesco last week, £2 for a pack of ten. I tried them, seemed ok so bought a few packs of them.

I'm really impressed with their customer service, our machine has been playing up, it's almost three years old, they've collected it today at the time they said they would, no need to package it as they pop it in a crate, they've also delivered a loan machine whilst ours is being repaired.
