I have not gone back through the thread so apologies if already discussed, but has anyone upgraded to using the Vertuo machine and is it worth it?
I don't like the restrictions Nespresso have placed on consumers now that the new pods have locked out 3rd party coffee pod suppliers.I like the fact I can get decent 3rd party pods from Asda/Tesco/Sainsburys these days.

Perhaps I will run both machines for a while and then decide which to keep.

I have one which i have alongside the Sage Creatista Pro which uses the old pods. They are good, but i'd rather have the sage machine that can forth the milk etc etc if i was only to have one.
Don't really see whats so great about it vs the old machines. It does make a nice americano type coffee but the old one can too...

creatista Pro owners.
Does anyone know why when making some drinks. latte, cappuccino once you have frothed the milk the machine wants to do a second coffee run ?
Yes, it does this to make the process a bit more streamlined when you're wanting to make a 2x milky coffees, so the process goes like this:Does anyone know why when making some drinks. latte, cappuccino once you have frothed the milk the machine wants to do a second coffee run ?
- Select drink
- First espresso for Cup No1
- Milk stage
- Second espresso for Cup No2, the option of which which will time out eventually
- Divide milk from single milk stage into the espressos
I also echo the sentiment from previous poster regarding the current Variations...Praline is especially nice with milk, and i'd expect it's the same with tMacaron, though we preferred Praline so just got that.
- Edit to add, recent new Creatista Pro owner here too, after my Citiz+milk started giving up the ghost after 6yrs stellar service. Very nice bit of kit with a most welcome 25% off from Nespresso's website with their recent tiered membership level. Went for a satin black colour option seemingly available only direct from them, which made a change from the normal (though admittedly very nice) standard stainless finish.

I have just acquired one of these for the garage/home office. My gripe with it is if you have coffee with milk, it is only lukewarm. I get the whole not using boiling water because it spoils the coffee thing, but assumed I could use this to make coffee to which I wanted to add milk.
Are they only really of any use for black coffee?

I alway heat the cup with water from the kettle or run it without a pod. Helps a bit. Are they only really of any use for black coffee?

I find that pre-heating the cup with the water & steam used to heat the machine/milk frother makes it warm enough, but Mrs LLA likes hers hotter so just bungs it in the microwave for 20s afterwards.
Having room temperature water in the tank makes a difference too. Freshly-drawn water, especially in the winter, does knock it down a few degrees.

I bought a Nespresso Vertuo machine a couple of months ago, and I love it.
I really like a nice crema on my coffee, and that's exactly what you get with the Vertuo. Unlike others, I find that the temperature of the coffee is just right, even without warming the mug first. I make "Reversos", with a splash of milk in the mug first, and they're exactly to my liking.
There's a good range of coffee available, too.
I still have my original Nespresso machine, and use it occasionally, with pods from supermarkets (although I made the mistake of buying Dualit pods in bulk from Costco). The Coffee Pod offerings are ok, as are Marks and Spencer Columbian.
Vertuo pods are approximately 50p each. Relatively expensive compared to around 20p for copies of original Nespresso pods from supermarkets etc, but in my experience the Vertuo makes better coffee.

Apologies if this sounds patronising, it really isnt meant to be, but Nespresso machines make espresso-based coffee, and there isn't such a coffee that is made with just cold milk. Are they only really of any use for black coffee?
You really need to be adding steamed/heated milk or, in the case of an Americano, hot water.

Not sure its been mentioned here, but does anyone have any experience with the Nespresso Vertuoline range here?
Hadnt seen that it had been launched here yet, but seems to have been. Any experience/thoughts?
Tried a cup of the strong coffee in the local John Lewis not long after it came out. Was not impressed by the fact the demonstrator had to stir a black coffee (cna't remember the reason why) and I found the coffee on the weak side - some thing she admitted others had said as well when I mentioned it.Hadnt seen that it had been launched here yet, but seems to have been. Any experience/thoughts?

- am just on the verge of buying the vertuo plus from john lewis; lordy this coffee machine thing is an information overload!!! Im probably going to buy the lavazza milk frother though - unless anyone here knows different??I really like a nice crema on my coffee, and that's exactly what you get with the Vertuo. Ideal setup is a sage creatista + another vertuo machine
It's overkill, but i have a double shot cappuchino from the creatista in the morning. Lovely, and this machine has awesome automatic milk frother (easy to clean etc) so when i switch onto vertuo coffees for rest of day i can add warm milk if needed.
So one for espresso based drinks and one for longer americano type standard coffee depending on mood
