I have just acquired one of these for the garage/home office. My gripe with it is if you have coffee with milk, it is only lukewarm. I get the whole not using boiling water because it spoils the coffee thing, but assumed I could use this to make coffee to which I wanted to add milk.
Are they only really of any use for black coffee?
Apologies if this sounds patronising, it really isnt meant to be, but Nespresso machines make espresso-based coffee, and there isn't such a coffee that is made with just cold milk. Are they only really of any use for black coffee?
You really need to be adding steamed/heated milk or, in the case of an Americano, hot water.

For those thinking of buying a Nespresso, don't forget if you go to one of their shops, boutiques, or even some John Lewis stores they'll let you try the coffee for free.
Yes, and if you take the family with you when you buy pods you all get a free coffee. Saves a visit to Costa Hmm tried the Vertuo again today - with intenso and still found it a little on the weak side, however at the same time I found it refreshing. The £1 sub plan sounds tempting (£35 for the vertuo), as if stopped after 12 months I'll still have two years in which to use up the credit I will have accrued,

That’s a fair point. Not sure I want to got through the steamed milk rigmarole if I’m working/doing stuff in the garage; I was hoping it would be an easy “better than instant” option, so maybe adding hot water to make an Americano is the answer, so I’ll try that. Thanks. You really need to be adding steamed/heated milk or, in the case of an Americano, hot water.
I got a lattisima touch for Christmas with the 150 free pods, really enjoying it so far, makes a really frothy milk which I like as I enjoy the coffee strong and then just a bit of really foamy milk on the top
What’s the best way of setting up each individual item? I’ve got 110ml Nespresso cups, I tend to fill it up the the bottom of the handle with coffee and the rest milk.
Can you get more than 1 cup out of a capsule?

I had seen that offer and it does seem good but for me I don’t think it works. The machine i bought is £541 for the 12 months, granted including the coffee but my wife doesnt really drink coffee and i will have 2 maybe 3 a day.
I think it would take a long time for me to drink through £441 of coffee (the cost of subscription minus the price i paid for the machine) considering im getting 166 free pods with the machine anyway (16 in a starter pack plus the 150 free pods).
It is a good offer, and certainly worth looking at if you will be a high volume user though.

Worth remembering that the credit from the subscription lasts 2 years, something that's crossed my mind as I've toyed with getting a Vertuo to go alongside my old and trusty Inissia. I'm not a big drinker but I still seem to go through ~£180-200 worth of coffee a year (and would only keep the £35 per month sub on the Vertuo going for the minimum 12 month period).I think it would take a long time for me to drink through £441 of coffee (the cost of subscription minus the price i paid for the machine) considering im getting 166 free pods with the machine anyway (16 in a starter pack plus the 150 free pods).

Yeah it would be touch and go for me but probably work out about £50-100 better off using the subscription service but then heavily front loaded with cost and if i dont like the machine for £100 I’m happy to give it away. Wouldn’t be happy giving it away but still spending money on the subscription.
Anyone tried the Vertuo Alto pods? I managed to get two of the samplers (not sure if I should even have received one) . Tried the Alto Dolce - liked the concept as it's a travel mug sized coffee (minus the crema) but found it too mild. Wondering what the Alto Intenso is like, but don't want to splash out on a pack of 10 if it proves to be naff. Presently drinking Stormio by preference and Fortissio Lunghi on the old machine.
Should note I did ask my local boutique - but they don't give freebie altos due to their size (and the need for large cups).

If you like coffee with milk (latte or a high milk macchiato), I'd recommend the Creatista Plus machine. And use a fairly intense pod.Are they only really of any use for black coffee?
It's one of the very few Nespresso machines that will actually heat and froth milk properly i.e. with steam and not a whisk. So the milk texture is silky smooth and dense, rather than frothy/airy.
It also means you can make an excellent hot chocolate, but that's another story
