I am starting to think the coffee from my Vertuo is not as good as the original... Might go back to the old setup.
Heard that from two other “switchers”At present I prefer the Vertuo as I tend to drink longer coffee rather than expressos. Did switch back last week while waiting for my new month of subscription to kick in (as I was out of vertuo pods) and was still happy with my decision to buy it, though if I do change my mind it's no issue as my subscription will cover my coffee pod purchase before it expires even if I do swap back to the original.
Yes I also prefer a bigger cup than espresso size, so I was usually drinking lungos from my original machine. However I have started to think that the coffee from my new machine just doesn’t taste as good.
I’m overseas until June and may well be putting the vertua on eBay and going back to the original I think.

For the sake of some balance .....
I was recommended a Vertuoso machine by a friend who drinks a lot of coffee and has more coffee machines than is sensible, including several original Nespressos.
He loves his and I'm also loving mine.
In general, I would disagree with comments that the coffee doesn't taste as good, but I would say the Vertuoso's tend to be a little milder so you might want to use a higher strength than with Nespresso originals.

I would definitely be prepared to try that. Are there any particular pods you would recommend?I was recommended a Vertuoso machine by a friend who drinks a lot of coffee and has more coffee machines than is sensible, including several original Nespressos.

As odd as it sounds I actually found the strongest, Intensso slightly weak. The girl in the local boutique persuaded me to try the next one down, Stormio as she reckonned there's a maltiness to the strong one that tones it down and ... she was right - to me at least, stormio is a stronger, fuller flavour. Worth a try if you're near one of the shops or boutiques.I was recommended a Vertuoso machine by a friend who drinks a lot of coffee and has more coffee machines than is sensible, including several original Nespressos.

I have to say I’m a convert.
Never got the point of these machines as i can make better coffee cheaper myself. This may still be true but as the only coffee drinker in my house whilst i can make better i often didn’t as it seemed either to much effort or waste for just me so i drank a lot of instant coffee.
Yes themis solution isnt as good as a stove top pot or cafetière (if done properly) but i can turn it on and in less than 45 seconds have a thoroughly reasonable cup of coffee.
If it broke tomorrow i would go out and replace it.

Already have a Dolce Gusto but treated myself (and the household) to a Nespresso Vertuo a couple of weeks ago - £90 in John Lewis with 100 free capsules in the post, and 24 in the actual box.
Really liking it so far, some really nice flavours and it's great to have the different drink sizes, and the ease of using it, getting the right amount of water etc compared to the simpler (cheap and cheerful) DG.
We're smashing through the pads though, as a household of 5.. I know this 120-ish were 'free' but it still means we're getting closer to the first actual 100 pod purchase
Can anyone recommend a good pod holder for the kitchen? the official ones are a bit pricey, would like something that can hold up to 50, but can be less and I'll just keep it topped up.

My daughter has this one which works wellhttps://www.nespresso.com/uk/en/order/accessories/...
I went with devoting space in a cupboard

That's pretty cool. I should've specified I need a Vertuo one so that limits my options quite a bit, being relatively new there doesn't seem to be a huge amount of third party alternatives. There's only really this Peak one on Amazon: https://smile.amazon.co.uk/Peak-Coffee-Nespresso-S...
I think that's a bit pricey for what it is though
