Anyone else gone in for the Nespresso advent calendar? https://www.nespresso.com/uk/en/order/capsules/ori...

I also see the Christmas Variations are out - Nordic Almond Cake (eww), Nordic Cloudberry (eww) and Nordic Black (ooh!)
Unless it's got some unique flavours in it, it's terrible vfm...

I was coming to praise how quick the turn around on my machine from my Nespresso warranty claim.

Unfortunately after taking my machine out. It appears they must have let the work experience have a go at fixing it on a Friday afternoon. scrapes in the plastic from using a screw driver to open it up. Machine was returned dirty and sitting in water.

The actual swap from DPD is really efficient. Book in machine. Next day DPD bring a loan machine and take yours away in a case. then repeat when bringing it back.

Update. Nespresso are replacing the Machine. So great customer service from the senior manger I spoke with.

Hopefully mine fares better as I'll be sending it back soon. Out of interest was yours a Latissima? I've had 3 now and every one of them has failed in respect of the motor that pulls the milk from the milk container into the machine. The first two failed within 12 months so Argos simply swapped them, unfortunately the third lasted longer than 12 months so it'll have to be sent back to Nespresso.

I've bought a Sage machine to use at home for now and will take the Nespresso machine to work once it's fixed hopefully.

Just taken delivery of a Citiz machine and am stumped by the sample pods.

The machine does Espresso and Lungo.

Some of the provided pods appear to be suitable for Lungo and Espreso or Lungo or Espresso. Some will even do Ristretto but the machine doesn't have that option.

Do i just put the pod in and select Lungo or Espresso fill? I would have expected the pods to be specifically Lungo or Espresso not have the ability to do both.

Help!

Just had a Cloudberry, tasted like someone spat a cherry flavoured Tune in my brew. Strangely, it was quite pleasant.

You get lungo pods, and regular espresso pods. The lungos just have a bit more grounds in them to go with the larger volume of water. Some of the fancier machines that do milk automatically can vary the brew with the normal espresso pods, but trying a lungo setting with an espresso pod will leave the last third basically water.

The ristretto blend capsules are stronger than most of the rest, but none of the machines have a separate setting for a 'proper' ristretto, i.e. tiny amount of water.

Mine does... I have the Latissima Touch: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Nespresso-EN550-B-Lattiss...

It has three buttons; ristretto (25ml), espresso (40ml) and lungo (110ml). You can also vary the length of each option by pressing and holding the button whilst it's brewing and it will remember that setting for the next time you use it.

The Citiz does only have two buttons so if you want to leave the buttons as espresso and lungo then the only option would be to put it in as an espresso and stop it roughly halfway through its cycle. If you never brew a lungo, you could programme the button to do a ristretto using the method I mention above.

My fault.

I hadnt' seen the word lungo on top of the pods. I'd gone with the markings on the samples box which is probably telling me i can get that flavour in Lungo or Espresso, not just put the pod in and choose.

I'm used to BtoC so just getting my head around Nespresso.

It's not that there are lungo/espresso variants of the pods, more that the pods can be done either/or; eg. a 'Kazaar' pod is suitable/recommended for ristretto or espresso but not lungo etc. 'Master Origin Indonesia' is recommended as an espresso or lungo but not for ristretto for example.

At the end of the day, the only variance is the amount of water. If you feel your Kazaar espresso needs more punch then make it as a ristretto - you'll double the intensity of the coffee hit with half the water quantity.

Picked up this machine https://www.nespresso.com/uk/en/order/machines/ver... plus about 350 vertuo capsules for £90 which i thought was a bit of a bargain really..

Think the coffee is improved over the older style pods - but of course, no 3rd party yet..

hmm that's about £170 of coffee - does sound like a very good bargain, especially if you can choose most of those. I prefer my vertuo to my classic, but then I always did mainly drink taller/mugs of coffee.

Yeah purchased off a relative who'd won it and had just been given a Tassimo machine for xmas, so wanted a few beer tokens for it. Couldn't turn it down at that price - especially as, like you, coffee is at least a decent taller size than the double espresso from the older machine. Comes with a £25 free credit thing too that I need to get my head around.

Yes, I use both coconut and koko milk and in the past oat milk in mine, a lattisima touch. It works well, good foam and works well.

I did use almond but it splits a lot of the time

Some advice please.

I have a Nespresso Creatista. I've had it nine months now.
It's cleaned every two weeks however I have not yet done a descale.

How often do I realistically need to descale it? Do I need to buy the official descaler or will any liquid stuff do the job?

I'll add I rarely have milk drinks and probably only have two espresso coffees a week.

Our machine has a light - seems to come on every six months or so. It may well depend on your water (is it hard water?) and whether you use filtered water to top it up.

I suspect any descaler will work.
