Help please chaps, I’m a 12 year convert using 90% blue lungho with the milk frother

Can I get the same with vertuo ?

Is it worth it - I always fill a mug
My understanding from those who've tried them is that Vertuo isn't worth it, especially if you use 3rd party compatible pods - these aren't available for Vertuo yet. The cynic in me thinks Vertuo exists because Nespresso lost the right to prevent compatibles of the original pods...

I normally use 2-3 originals in a mug, 2x lungo and 1x espresso.

I'm going to disagree with Funk. I used a basic Nespresso machine for a few years and liked it, tended to settle on just a few different pods, and put up with the fact that I drink mugs of coffee so I'd be using two pods then maybe going for one or two more. When the Vertuo first came out I tried the strongest coffee and found it weak so walked away. A few months later I tried a few and as a result I've had a vertuo machine for about 15 months and have never looked back. While in the minority I'm not alone in taking that view here and most of those who've gone back to the original machines have bounced between the different coffee sizes.

Key thing, as with all pod machines, is finding a coffee you like. If you drink mugs and there is a vertuo coffee that works for you then go for it. Note though that if you drink smaller cups and do not have a classic machine to fall back upon the pods do cost more.

As I said always 1 part blue lungho 2 parts water and frothy milk.

Is there a blue lungho equivalent ? In the new pods?

I sold my Vertuo and went back to the original. I actually found the vertuo coffee to be inferior, although there may have been some I never got to try.

The last subscription has lapsed, so the Latissima Touch is being retired... Creatista Plus due in a day or two bounce
Enjoy. The milk wand is so much better than the Latissima thing.
Bloody hell, it really is a hell of a step up!

If anyone’s interested I have 5 packs of original nespresso pods in packs of ten.

I bought a vertueo machine but wrongly ordered the original pods.
Nespresso sent me out replacements and said keep the original pods. If anyone wants them for free let me know.

Two packs of Columbia
One pack of nicaragua
One pack of ispirazione ristretto italiano
One pack of ispirazione Napoli

Anyone seen any good deals on a replacement machine for original capsules? Our U & Milk machine is starting to jam regularly.

I Have just discovered ALDI do a great Columbian and Costa Rica, strength 6 Nespresso compatible pods.

Whilst I don’t profess to have the most cultured palate I find these great, at £2 for 10 they feel like good value. They are aluminium capsules and I haven’t had a single failure so far!

Over the past few months we have started to buy the Starbucks Nespresso pods from Sainsburys.

They are regularly on offer at £2.50 for a box of 10 pods and in my opinion produce good coffee.

I’ve become a big fan of the Starbucks Pike Place and Holiday blend, both can often be found reduced in Tesco.

I don't know whether it's covid or just old age, but I've found my taste has changed and I can no longer stand Roma which I've been buying for over a decade as one of my go-to choices, along with Arpeggio.

Have developed a strong liking for Cosi though, which is a lot "weaker" than I usually go for, but which works really well in a latte or cappuccino.

I've had a Magimix nespresso machine and Aerocinno for the last 3 years and it's probably been the best thing I ever bought. I paid £60 from John Lewis, it came with £75 of free coffee credit and a 3 year warranty, which has resulted in me receiving new bits for the aerocinno regularly and eventually a completely new aerocinno.

I've always wanted to upgrade to a Creatista machine, but missed the sales and its been full price when I looked. Anyway, I noticed the other day that on the nespresso website you can get it for £1 if you sign up to the £55 a month coffee club for 24 months. I don't buy my pods from nespresso anymore, I just get the starbucks ones on offer from Sainsbury's, so didn't really want to do this. But I noticed that you can cancel at any time and pay a £250 fee.

I rang up and asked if i could sign up for one month and then cancel straight away, which they said yes. So instead of paying £370 for the Creatista plus machine, you pay £1, £55 of coffee credit and then £250 penalty. So £306 in total for the machine and £55 of credit.

I've cancelled the subscription a couple of days ago and not been charged the fee yet so fingers crossed I may not even be charged the fee.

But anyway, it opens up a lot more options for making coffee, anyone got any suggestions on the best settings for a decent flat white or cappuccino?

Funnily enough I picked up a couple of the Starbucks ones in Sainsburys as they were on offer and I thought it was worth giving them a try. I don't really like Starbucks' coffee from their shops but the Nespresso pods are actually very nice - and I say that as someone who normally goes for the stronger options (which these aren't).

Thank you for your message. Please keep us posted. I quite like the idea of the gran latissima and missed the sale in the summer. Sadly they only seem to offer sales on Vertuo. I'm suspecting they are selling off the original capsule machine in favour which is disappointing as the supermarkets and other coffee manufactures do not offer the vertuo capsules.

The bit in bold is the EXACT reason why they're doing that and pushing Vertuo. Nestle's money is not in the machines, it's in the coffee - and they don't make any money if you buy compatibles, hence the push for subscriptions or 'free' machines etc. It works exactly the same way printer inks do...
