Home Made Pizza - Aftertaste

My husband has made the most fantastic pizza.
The only thing I noticed was after a short while eating it there was an aftertaste to it (I can't describe what it tasted of). It was a real shame because it was a superb effort.
All I can say is I think it was coming from the base which was a home made dough.
Any ideas and if so what would you suggest we do in the future to stop it happening again.
