Got a bottle of pink Gin from the cats for Mother’s Day. Delicious with fresh Strawberries. I think there’s just a few glasses left to be enjoyed...

Hi All

I don't drink much myself these days, but when I did my favourite gin was T10. Dead simple with slimline tonic - lovely and refreshing.

I need to buy a gift for an associate and he likes gin apparently. It's a "thank you" for something that he did for myself and my family that was reasonably generous, so I'm happy to spend a bit in return on something thoughtful (I get the irony that I'm asking you lot to do my thinking!).

Can anyone recommend a rather special gin? Something that I can either buy online or collect from a shop tomorrow as I need it for Thursday night. £200 tops.

Many thanks!

Really like the rhubarb and ginger one, not too sickly or sweet, just lovely.

Especially with loads of ice, Fever Tree Ginger Ale & a squeeze of fresh lime lick

Thoroughly recommend their quince gin too.

Haven't tried the blood orange or raspberry, but I have a bottle of the blood orange on the way.

In all honesty the very best bottles (or most expensive) of gin are only going to set you back £50-60 tops. Even going into somewhere like Harvey Nichols you will struggle to spend more.

I'd consider getting them a gin subscription - often the gins from this along with the mixers and treats are well in excess of the £40 cost and it does offer access to some very rare or difficult to find gins.

A quarterly subscription will set you back £140 for the year with the current offer

Another acquisition with tea:

The breakfast gin grew on me, this will also have to be experimented with.

My younger brother bought me this for Christmas a few years back. Not sure how much it was but given it came in a Selfridges bag i'd imagine it wasn't far off your budget.

Just wanted to introduce myself in the thread. I thought I didn’t like gin, but that may be due to my only experience being Gordon’s with Schweppes, and not very well prepared.

With the summer on its way I fancied trying to get a nice summer drink, so decided gin was worth another go.

Off to Sainsbury’s and came out with a bottle of Hendricks, Fevertree tonic and a bag of lemons and limes. What a bloody revelation!! Was lovely!
This was Monday by the way...

Since Monday I’ve acquired a bottle of Whitley Neil and Monkey 47, and dabbled with Fever Tree Sicilian lemon tonic. It’s just such a nice relaxing evening drink. I’m fully converted.
I’ve bought three bottles in a week (I’ve not drunk them all!!) I feel a collection coming...

Most people serve Hendricks with cucumber, give it a go, it’s quite nice.

I’m actually quite fond of Schweppes tonic!

I’ve just poured myself a Warner Edwards Honeybee gin, lovely stuff. My favourites are still Tanqueray 10 with a slice of pink grapefruit or Four Pillars served without a garnish.

Cucumber with Hendricks
Grapefruit with Monkey.
Although it's up to you really.

I picked up some Keepr Honey Gin that I drink with Ginger Ale and Honeycomb.
I'm really liking the Fevertree Aromatic tonic, works well with the normal gins.
You need to watch which tonic you use as some of the exotic ones have botanicals even in the plain ones. Schweppes has no botanicals so can come across as flat if added to the wrong gin.

Check out an app called Ginventory, it has recommended tonics and garnishes.

I prefer Scweppes over Fever Tree also. There was an article a while ago asking 10 of the worlds top Gin people their thoughts and 7 of them said schweppes was the best also.
