Might just get in touch about this......
After reading the recommendation on here we tried the Turkish cafe in Holbeck last week:
Bread - awesome.
Meat (chicken) - awesome.
Meat (presume lamb) - awesome.
Condiments - awesome.
Served with salad separate - awesome.
"Chicken burger" - absolute ste.
Price - Eye watering.
Venus? The food is great but the prices are steep! I work down the road and I also have a season ticket for Leeds United so I’m in the area a lot. Usually end up in there when I feel like a treat otherwise it’s one of the local chicken shops for a £3 chicken burger meal. After reading the recommendation on here we tried the Turkish cafe in Holbeck last week:

Venus do proper Turkish donner meat with pieces of lamb and chicken, not the usual takeaway style mince stuff. I’m heading to Turkey in a few days during my roadtrip, looking forward to eating a lot of kebabs!

[quote=desolate]Tried a new place in Rusholme.
Kurdistan Restaurant (that's definitely poetic licence.
Kebabs, bread and salad top notch. No sauces. The roasted chicken and land dishes looked good but we didn't try.
Don't use the toilets, unless totally desperate.
Where else do you recommend around there? I live in Warrington but work in Manchester and eat out a lot around the area, any local takeaway, restaurants you can recommend? always keen to find hidden gems, good eateries etc and dont mind travelling.

Don't know about Warrington, but unlike the takeaways down south with their pitta breads and retail flatbread, a lot of manchester takeaways, even cheap looking ones, make their own naan bread and serve Kebabs on them which are far superior so definitely go to ones with their own clay oven.Kurdistan Restaurant (that's definitely poetic licence.

Might be an idea to start one end of the curry mile and go through each one? Then you probably have already been to Akbars/eastzeast etc in town for sit down meals and Nawaab's (buffet).
Also check out Bolton, as they have a few nice places dotted on high street and around the town. They have a steak place set inside an aeroplane too

Afghan Cuisine
I will definitely go back to Kurdistan Restaurant, today was the first time.
My son goes to school up the road and swears by the schawarma shack on the main drag called Atlas.
There is a great Turkish in Chorlton called Turkish Delight.
Apart from Atlas all these has sit in of various qualities (eg rusholme chippy you get a plastic bench and eat off paper.)
The tandoori mixed grill in Mughli is lovely but that's a proper restaurant with commensurate cost.
That's really the only "curry house" I go in Rusholme now - it's becoming more of a Afghan/Kurdish area as the nature of the local residents changes.
Staff night out this evening to the fantastic - http://www.antepli.co.uk/
I'll post up some pics, not strictly a takeaway or dirty, but amazing food that could be taken away if required.

If any west Yorkshire based filth fans want a bucket of precooked donner meat then let me know. My boss also owns a donner company and they do tubs of it for takeaways who don’t have kebab machines.
