This seems to happen a lot up here, the lamb suppliers let them down and they just happen to have a bit of "personal use" beef in the shop to keep the customer happy.

A few of my local takeaways sell a "meat" curry rather than being too specific, I'd thought this was because it was hogget or mutton so they couldn't call it "lamb" but now I think about it it's probably beef or even goat. Either way it's usually tender and tasty enough, some transparency would be nice though.
I know the owner through work, might bring it up next time I speak to him biggrin

It was decent. My local place in Sheffield (Marantos, Birley Moor Road) smash it out of the water in quality though. Still, free nice pizza is hard to beat.
Not too far from my folks in Charnock. I went to Birley School many years ago and we used to go down to that parade of shops for a haslet sandwich at lunch and a 'quarter of spice' from the Post Office.

A 'quarter of spice' would have such a different meaning today. Not sure that an afternoon double French with Mlle Gilbert would have proceeded in quite the same manner.

Haslet sandwich, there's a blast from the past.

Can still buy it in our local butchers. I quite like it.

Hah, didn't consider that one! Spice was (and maybe still is) Sheffield slang for sweets. Probably get an odd look from the old dear in the Post Office if you asked for that now.

Somethng else that amused me is the bakery that supplied me with said haslet sandwich is still going over 30 years later and next door to 'Marantos' which is referenced above.

Anyway, apologies for the thread derail. The next thing I post in here will have suitable levels of MSG\salt.

Not seen much fast food dirtiness recently.

Wanted Five Guys (capital letters as it's a name, not five guys...), but upon walking in and being confronted with £11 for a double cheese and chips, I walked out and ended up getting the 'Long Big King' (more capitals!). Throw some horrible dry nuggets on and I'm thoroughly disappointed.

Such a disappointment.

Whereas if you'd spent £11 on the Five Guys, you'd've scoffed it all and felt like mayyyybe it was worth paying just a bit more!

Went with this today. It WAS a takeaway, but is on a plate. Office decorum or some rubbish

Avoid at all costs !!!!
Went here because it looked good... Please don't make the same mistake we did !
Pizza... Looked and tasted like it was made in a primary school... And was delivered wrong.
Kebab... Cold, tasteless and randomly cut by I can only assume a cerial killer.
Burger... I am currently using the pattie to resole my shoes.
Chips... Probably would have been better cooked.
Hash browns... See chips
Colslaw... Home made looked like vomit.

On a positive note... The cans of 7up were amazing.

I know I sound flippant but after due consideration this has to be one of, if not the worst food experience in my entire 50 years of eating solid food.

I NEARLY had a Pie Minister on Thursday but the colleague (/imbecile) I was with, insisted we went to the pub instead.

Can't get the bloody staff these days.

I know kellogs aren't what they used to be but no need to go around butchering the humble breakfast bowl.

This is from a while back, salt and pepper chips, two portions of salt and pepper chicken wings (because Fat Knacker), obligatory northerner’s can of Vimto, radioactive sauce for the out of shot prawn crackers. Idiot dog doing his “mental arithmetic” about what might be coming his way...

Since moving in February to a new town, I’ve still not found an acceptable curry house. At my last place, they did a great mixed meat/kebab starter (I usually had the “mixed starter for three” (people)), which was a combo of onion bhaji, meat samosa, dog’s dick kebab, tandoori lamb, tandoori chicken and chicken pakora. All obviously supplemented by more chicken pakora and a garlic naan. To get over the delivery threshold, I’d usually order a curry and rice, which would do the following night.

I miss Indiana’s. I suspect their profits over the last six months are down as well...
