Exactly this. A lot of places make a huge thing of it in South Africa that they are fresh hand cut chips. Very different to a bag of McCain catering fries like most take outs in the UK.

They also do something called slap chips or slaptjips in Afrikaans with means soft chips and they basically cook hand cut chips at a low temperature so they cook through but go soggy and then douse them in hot vinegar. An acquired taste

I know it's not strictly a takeaway but this seems like the thread for kebab aficionados.

Kurdistan restaurant just off curry mile in Rusholme.

This lot comes in 20 quid including 4 soft drinks. Plus you get a bowl of lentil soup.

The closest thing you can get around here is a special kebab which is lamb shish, lamb doner, chicken shish and chicken doner in a large pita bread. That’s £15.00!
