There's place that's opened in Glasgow called Doner Haus. Been a few times and it's decent. The vegan kebab is good and by all accounts the doner is amazing. They also do full steins of nice german beers. Definitely set up to expand as a chain as well.

From Doner Haus as mentioned above...

And last nights from the local takeaway, king mixed naan kebab. The lamb was so good, charred but tender!

pizza from the other day. papa johns 'the works' but with anchovies instead of green peppers.

todays doner

got the doner from a place in town (instead of going to my local). got a little suprise as the european guy who served me used to work at my local, he even knew my usual order. i don't blame him for working somewhere else, I went to this place for the same reasons. my local chippy/kebab is crap ever since the new owners came in.

Chopped up unidentifiable meat with spices to mask its origin rolled in breadcrumbs as a round patty cake and fried

My mum's rissoles were(well, still are) mince and mash, mixed up and shaped into a patty and fried. No breadcrumbs IIRC.
Maybe that's the southern softie version

Every day is a school day, I will hunt one down and try it.

It's only when I moved to Coventry and ordered a fish and chips I realised a 'scallop' can be something other than seafood, I was very, very disappointed.

Sticks.

Back in the 70s (iirc) you could buy Brain's Rissoles, an early ready meal. A good way to get your weekly salt intake done and I suspect brain's was both the brand and an ingredient. We had something similar at school with rice in it, which looked like maggots emerging.

my local only does round ones for their lunch meal deals. everything else is tin. except if it's something fried like dumplings, thats in plastic.

Brain's Faggots were epic. Or at least so I recall - not had them in 40yrs smile

My dad used to have a limited repertoire, but my sister and I used to love it when he and mum were on opposite shifts and dad did the school pick up...chips with pretty much everything, home made scotch eggs, faggots, pie, savoury pancakes, ham and eggs. And instructions to let mum know we had a bit of a salad or some pasta (we were posh - mum loves her cooking and was an early adopter of "foreign food" smile).
