It certainly beats the st out of Dominos in value doesn't it?
I don't get why UK prices are so high.Over here, NZ, you can get a large Dominos pizza for £3.50 (pick up).
I suspect the answer is just generally because its more expensive here.
How does NZ compare for:
Min wage
Franchise costs
Insurance costs
Business rates
Taxes both on sales and employees
Electricity
Its regularly said the cost to make a pizza is <£1 but they don't factor in the other costs. Dominos make money in the UK, but their margins are actually quite small (less than 10% IIRC) and they have not been doing great the last year or two. This is despite charging almost £20 for some pizzas.

I googled 'Dominos deals' and, in amongst loads of other offers was a deal for 3 large pizzas for $21.99 or £11, that's £3.66 per pizza.

a 15" pizza is about 706 sq-in, whilst an 18" is 1018 sq-in so about a ~45% improvement. An additional £8 over the £12 is an additional 66% price increase. So my reckoning it's better value to buy 2x 15" pizzas. Although in fairness this doesn't take into account topping coverage percentage.
Awaits someone to tell me my workings are wrong (which they probably are)
15” would be 3 x 7.5 = 22.5 x 22.5 = ~500 sq in, or 2.4p per square inchAwaits someone to tell me my workings are wrong (which they probably are)
18” it would be 3 x 9 = 27 x 27 = ~730 sq in, or 2.7p per square inch
Important Note: a 1018 sq in pizza would have to be about 20 inches across if round. Or 10 inches wide and about eight feet long - which would present a transportation challenge in a Volvo estate, never mind on a chinese moped or Nissan Micra.
Just the facts ma’am (rounded heavily).

The sum is A=πr2 not A=(πr)2
I literally have no idea what formula Tallow used.

Area = π r²
Brackets - No
Indices - Yes - r². We need half of 15, and half of 18, squared. Which is 56.25 and 81.
Division - No
Multiplication, yes. Pi times the answer above.
Addition - No
Subtraction - No
Answer = 3.14... * 56.25 and 3.14... * 81.
Which gives
15" = 176.71 sq in
18" = 254.47 sq in

Why has the Filthy Food Photos thread turned into Maths school? Has anybody got any feasts I can turn my nose up at instead of sums I can turn my nose up at.

i'm guessing this was probably delivered, and not something eaten on site. the way all the lettuce and cheese has moved to one side suggests possible g forces from rapid acceleration, braking or cornering. my pizzas would sometimes suffer a similar fate from the scooter delibery guyIts meant to be a Big Tasty.... instead it looks like someone threw a burger down a back alley.

that really is appalling. nothing i hate more than a big tasty that is badly made (and i love the big tasty). i be cheeky and make an order that has extra onions, tomato or sauce, just so that it's made to order. I hate when the cheese has cooled down and stuck to the box.
Aren’t they all made to order these days in the U.K.? Gassing Station | Food, Drink & Restaurants | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
