Dirty Takeaway Pictures Volume 3
Discussion
This is probably the best takeaway I've ever had, super tasty and 2 of us couldn't finish it.

Comes with a skewer of chicken bbq, a skewer of chicken tikka, a skewer of lamb shish, lamb donner, chicken shawarma, grilled tomatoes, peppers, onions and mushrooms, bread and salad and sauces

Not a takeaway, but this picture reminded me of a “service station” steak burger and fries near to Béthune in France, way back in 2014. As per the quoted post, the photo really doesn’t do it justice. The photo where it’s next to my head was when I’d already eaten about half, yet I still needed both hands to lift it and stuff it in my face... It was most excellent. And while going through the pictures, I found this one, which was of a takeaway, again from 2014, but this time, just above the Arctic Circle in Rovaniemi in Finland. Yes, that’s half a litre of milk. I’d been “hydrating” for a few hours, having the day prior just collected a €580 speeding ticket from Finland's finest...
Scan burger, fries, nuggets, milk. Again, excellent quality.
From the same trip, this was a service station burger and chips, somewhere between Copenhagen and the ferry port as Esbjerg. I had the worst hangover of the whole trip of 3 1/2 weeks, having somehow ending up serving behind the bar at the Islands Brygge Kulturhuset, one of the venues for that year’s Copenhagen Jazz Fetsival...
Yet again, excellent quality.
While we’re at the burger theme, this was France, way back when. Again, a motorbicycle trip. Frankly, this is the only way to “do” McDonaldks, if you ask me...
The last one is from Lick’s in Toronto. Possibly THE BEST takeaway burger I’ve ever had.

for pizza to tear and stick like that makes me think its undercooked/not evenly cooked...perhaps the dough/pizza was cooked from frozen? the preforations on the base of the first picture is a big giveaway for pre-bought/cooked dough. THey have no understanding of how to put toppings on a pizza.. I've never seen such chunky peppers outside of a stir fry.
My father in law owns a group of New York Pizza restaurants* and would cry seeing that. I’m not joking, he is an emotional guy.
There are so many sins being committed that means they don’t meet the basic bar. Takeaways should offer food I can’t make at home better. Yes, I could make a donner but it would take for ever and wouldn’t be the same. Look at all the food we gorge on and if I can beat the takeaway, with minimal effort, then it hasn't done it’s job.
Any one can make a pizza better than that in an oven. If you have a BBQ, or gas grill, you can destroy it.
The pizza suffers from being a pre-made dough, and being cooked with the oven set to “cold”.
My in-laws have a mansion in upstate NY (*that may answer the question of “why are they NY pizza?”.......because they are in NY and make NY style). Money* can be made, but it’s a lot of work and you have to give a fk. That pizza was made by someone that didn’t give a fk.

- second star because their house is massive and has 2 kitchens 6 car garage and a huge pool but due to the property prices in upstate NY, it’s worth about $700k.
Honestly unless it's from a proper stone baked Italian place I won't get takeaway pizza anymore (unless the other half forces us to get domino's, but I like the frank's hot sauce). The £3 sourdough jobs from lidl/aldi taste better and have a much better base.
I won't get pasta takeaway either, I love cooking pasta dishes and can pretty much always make something tastier. (apart from a pork cheek carbonara I had in a restaurant in Edinburgh, wow)
Chinese, tried making our own but the sweet and sour and chow mein are never the same (not enough msg?)
Burgers? Yes easy to do (and do bbq alot) but sometimes nice to try a unique topping combination, and we always want the sides we can't do at home properly (proper onion rings and fries)
Kebabs? Agree with above that they're faff to do takeaway style, we do make a nice Greek kebab with chicken and roasted veg occasionally, but it's not a patch on a filthy kebab covered in that squirty bottle mayo and chilli.
And fish and chips are impossible to do well at home without a deep fat fryer.

Yeah, agreed with the pizza. After getting used to Neapolitan I can't eat the st they serve in takeaways. Last week I caved in for dominos after 2 years and this is what we got after 1 hour of waiting.....I won't get pasta takeaway either, I love cooking pasta dishes and can pretty much always make something tastier. I'm rather happy to discover today that one of my local chinese has finally re-opened, they are the main place i go to. Unfortunately the secondary/backup one i go to closed up and decided to sell.
Rather strangely the owners of the local fried chicken/kebab/pizza (owners of desi decent) bought it out and intend to reopen chinese takeaway, but given they have no knowledge of the food are going to try and find someone to do it all. Hopefully it will be good.
