Well, it may only be 4 years old, but a real easy drinking dram this one.

Tempted to get a second bottle to be honest. If you like sherried drams, it's really worth a shot.

Had that last night actually, seen it on offer around the £20-£22 mark. It is very good for what it is, significantly better than the usual blended suspects.
I've bought a bottle for my daily, and it's not bad at all for the money.

Has anyone tried the latest Aberlour A'bunadh (batch 58) yet? My batch 56 is getting low, but the few reviews I've seen so far for the 58 say it isn't great.

Took a bottle of the 2017 release of the Kilkerran 12 year old Campbeltown malt as my bed time tipple for my recent trip to the Fyords....

It's good to take your own whisky to the fjords - they're expensive! I guess somewhere around Geiranger perhaps?

Some lovely bottles there krallicious! Did you pay for 6, or get 2 free?

Keep meaning to contribute to this thread but never getting round to taking any photos. However.....

After sampling a this when my wife bought me a selection of miniatures for Christmas last year (a great idea, she knows I like my whisky but knows nothing much about it, so went to the local independent seller and they sold her a selection of miniatures which she used as stocking fillers - I get to try a few different whiskies and she solves the problem of what to get me for Christmas) I really liked this and thought I'd put in an order with the shop but they couldn't get any.

We went on a tasting evening at the Whisky Society for a friends birthday (recommended BTW) and they told me it was unlikely I'd get any retail as the distillery was so small.

Then the other night my wife was browsing Amazon and discovered The Whisky Exchange were selling it.

So I finally got to order a full bottle, then I thought why not order 2, the ten year old and the special edition 12 year old.

Very happy at the moment, and also looking forward to comparing the 10 and 12 year olds side by side.

You should try some of their single cask stuff if you can.

These arrived yesterday.

Very nice, where did you get that Springbank from?

Picked up the peated Penderyn today with a bottle of the Jura 16 (forgotten the name frown ).

Just sipping the Penderyn now and have to say how light and fragrant it is, the scent of apples is really quite lovely.

A very nice little dram, hopefully it'll be something that's readily available as it's the first time I noticed it in Waitrose today.

Got it in auction. However it's bottles from the distillery that Cadenheads take a sample from and make 1 bottle. They seem to be the "official" shop for the distillery in Cambeltown, and have a famous "cage" where they sell these bottles. Since they're just one sample then you don't know what you're getting, and even if you love it there's no chance of getting another bottle of it. It seems to often be a bit random if any are available when visiting. The quality seems to be good though for them. I might be in the area in October (back over for my 30th birthday) so will maybe drop by and see if I can get one/some. Also maybe need to find something/open something special for celebrating getting old! biggrin

Evening all.
New here and I quite like a tipple but have no real knowledge on the whisky front beyond what I can buy in a bar or shop. I'd quite like to start building a bit of a collection, probably a bottle a month from the local supermarket as they always seem to have a deal on a fancier tipple than the average shelf brand.

The only problem is I don't want to sink money into a drink that I've never tried, or know that i'm going to like.

How and where do i find a taster???

Try getting a few different types to see what you like best (if you like it at all!!!!). Something like Aberlour/Glendronach should be good for strong sherry flavours, Highland Park would be some sherry and a bit of smoke, Lagavulin/Ardbeg would be strong peat/smoke and then some speyside stuff for lighter more vanilla/fruity flavours. Not been shopping in a supermarket for whisky for a while so not sure of the best speysiders there. That would give you a range and help guide what you should buy more of.

Hello mate. Pretty good I think on the job front although it's a bit of a learning curve if i'm honest both for them and for me, but it seems to be going in the right direction. Car is cracking, I really do like it and it is a lovely place to be.

Thanks for the link I will have a look now. I hope life is treating you well?

I was contacted last week by the I.C.A with reference to the whole shenanigans of my story and the way it has been dealt with by the DVLA/DMG.

The I.C.A are taking it on!!!!!

The mastersofmalt website looks ideal for a novice like myself with its samples, I can see this being a costly hobby smile

Here is something a bit different - I was at the Maker's Mark Distillery in Kentucky and picked uo some Bourbon I had not seen...46 and the Private reserve.
They are cask strength though. The private reserve is 110 proof. Beautifully smooth based on a tasting there....they send a number of their used casks to Glenmorangie.
