My good internet friend had a rough time last 6 months

His mum died and now in 2018 he finds out his eyes are falling so has been banned from driving. His turbo Volvo T5 is dust.

frown

Bought him this. Quantity v quality? Went for the former... will last longer. He sent me a pic

Bit like a US V8 compared to an Elise biggrin

A friend in need is a friend in deed

did you buy him the optic to fit it into??

There is something about a huge bottle of spirits... it's the same sort of thing as seeing a huge powerful gun! Hard to not go "woah"

Especially considering he did not expect it and it suddenly turned up out of the blue.

Shock and awe on the mind and eyes can sometimes be better than something long lasting on the tongue.

There was an introduction to a Stephen King short stories book where he described short stories as a fleeting kiss in the dark rather than the long slow burning romance of a novel.

This will give him a short pulp fiction read every day rather than one of the classics I hope.

Grimy modern day meanderings over, back to the good stuff

...monitor goes wavy ...

Currently faced with moving house - of which one of the problems is packing over 100 bottles of whisky properly, as moving insurance won't cover breakages! So part of the strategy is to try and finish anything that is quite empty to reduce the numbers of bottles! Difficult task, but someone has to do it!

If you need help...

But seriously, sounds like you have quite the selection so if you want to sell some drams?

hehe Very kind of you!

The issue (at least for PH/auctions) is I am in Norway, so not so easy to sell stuff. I had been wondering about checking in the whisky club over here. However if anyone wants to have a look at what I have and it's something I'm willing to sell/ a good price for both I can take it over next time when visiting. These are the bottles I have - bit of a random mix to be honest!

My current collection. I've got so many bottles of the Ardbeg 10 as it was on offer in Tescos a while back at just over £20. It's all currently scotch, the bottle to the top left is my infinity bottle,

My latest purchase is Oban 14 - possibly the most disappointing whisky I have ever bought. I find it is like a bland version of Glenmorangie Original with a rough finish that cost a lot more.

I’ve just received some Scapa as a birthday gift. I don’t know how I missed this before, it’s bloody lovely. Will definitely restock with this.

Whisky experts - I've just been gifted this and not sure what to make of it. Something to keep, drink or use as a mixer. Any ideas?

Seems to be a decent drinking whisky, so no need to use it as a mixer.

85 is pretty decent (although not many reviews), but most likely not worth saving (depending on your normal budget for a special occasion). The prices in Craigellachie seem to be going up after their award a year ago or so, but can't imagine a 8yo from an IB that is not exceptional going up lots in price if that's what you mean by "keep".

Thank you, very informative . I meant keep for a special occasion rather than as an investment. It shall be necked in due course.

Mean, that's just mean!!! cry
So what are your thoughts on it? Taste, depth, nose? Just working my way through a bottle of Ardbeg AnOa, it's a very pleasant dram, sweeter than I was expecting, nice peat and smoke balance, not as long a finish as say the 10year old, but a nice depth and flavour combination, I can see why they called it AnOa it would be easy to have two or three drams!!
