And how was the Glenglassaugh?
Imho, superb... Typical glenglassaugh sweetness, creamy, smooth, berries, extra oomph from the port pipes and a light waft of smokey peatiness... Not had a bad dram from any if the 'revival' era Glenglassaughs, I know they are NAS but they must be over 8 year old, if not nearer 12, next to no youthful burn to them imhe..
Edit - this one.
Does anyone here follow Ralfy's reviews on YT? I do, and bought a Glen Scotia 15 after watching his review - he was raving about it. It is a fine and interesting dram, and I know taste is a subjective thing, but I think I was expecting something more (not sure what though!) based on his level of enthusiasm for it.

You can learn so much from him, and he's a proper character into the bargain.
I also listen to Whisky.Com, Aqvavitae, LiquorHound and Scotch Test Dummies - if you have time to take a look, lots to learn on these as well.

Thought I'd try a bottle of this for £22 from Amazon.
Not particularly a massive fan of blends, though I thought Johnny Walker Double Black was OK.
It gets pretty good reviews! Anyone here tried it?
Had a bottle last year, despite the 50% volume it's pretty easy drinking, nice weight of flavour, not as deep as some but it's a nice dram, slightly sweeter than I expected but I'm finding that with a lot of stuff I try nowadays, don't know if that's my taste changing or if companies are using more sherried whiskies? Well worth that £22 though!!!Not particularly a massive fan of blends, though I thought Johnny Walker Double Black was OK.

Can't find anything with a quick look. However I don't remember seeing one of the Signatory decanters with a "private" label like that before. I wonder if it might be a limited sample bottling from one of their releases at the time.
This one has same abv. and was released just before Christmas. Might be they filled a few bottles at the same time and did a personal label on them to the people:

This also has the same abv. but is 1/2 a year later. However they might have taken some samples/ a few bottles from the cask and then sold them on when checking if it was ready. Cadenheads does this.

They also have a few other casks released around the same time, but with a little different abv. Seem to be good ratings too.
Just be aware the corks on those decanters are pretty known for often falling to bits, so be prepared to filter cork/ have another bottle to transfer the contents to if you are unlucky if you decide to drink it.

This is all your fault BigMon, this just arrived!!
Ha ha! Enjoy! It must be 'blend month' for me. Got a bottle of this for £23 in an Amazon deal too.
Had a few drams of it, and then some Cutty Sark last night. Very easy drinking but I think I prefer Islays or more heavily sherried whisky like Glenfarclas to be honest.
However, for a cheap dram they are both excellent.

Some really nice bottles there! Is the wooden box Glengoyne the current SC they have on sale for the last few years? And are the Bowmore Feis Ile all the same version, or did you get all 3? And which Tobermory/Ledaig is in the box?!

How does the Laphroaig Px compare to the standard 10 or Quater Cask - very tempted to buy a bottle at duty free in a couple of weeks time.
Hm, been a very long time since I have had either the Quarter Cask or 10yo so hard to compare properly! I think the PX is a bit softer, but hard to say since I've not had them together and it's been so long between them.Gassing Station | Food, Drink & Restaurants | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
