Any recommendations for a distillery tour? I've done Glenlivet and thought it was great, but we're doing a bit or a tour round Scotland in July and would like to do another.

Pretty flexible on where, as long as it's near the NC500 route and worth visiting.
Hi Justin. There's not too many distilleries on the NC500 route itself (Old Pultney, Glenmorangie, Clynelish, Dalmore, Glen Ord that I can think of). I've not done tours of any of the ones there, but given you'll be driving from Aberdeen you could perhaps stop by Ballindalloch. More expensive than your typical tour (£35), but IMO it's worth it. The whisky at the end is also a lot better than your typical tour too. Glen Garioch is a really nice tour, but too close to Aberdeen to bother doing on this trip. Glendronach is also nice, but perhaps a bit close too, and no photos which is a bit disappointing. Glenglassaugh (Portsoy) is less busy, but was a nice tour, and you can probably get a trip with your group as a result. Also no photos though, and younger whisky for the tasting after. Bernie did Glenfarclas recently and liked it I believe, and I also enjoyed it when I did it.

Glenmorangie is an interesting tour, tallest stills around apparently, Dalmore is very nice, very picturesque, done both a while back, I think Dalmore is more personal, Glenmorangie was incredibly busy. Where else are you going on your tour? Aberfeldy is good as they have the Dewars world of whisky tour, then at Crieff there's the Glenturret distillery with the Famous Grouse experience, I can highly recommend the Warehouse Experience, or as it was when I did it the Warehouse no9 Experience.

Thanks chaps. We're heading up over tomintoul then onto the north west coast, but will basically drive past glenmorangie, balblair and dalmore on the planned route.

I'll have a Google around the others also and see what fits.

bowmore 12 y.o. in tesco for £26, they said £14 off, but internet says most places around £30. Still not a bad deal if you happen to shopping there already.

looking for a bit of advice for a best mans gift, looking for advice or some selections to pick from. best man is quite into his whisky, so far only has Scottish bottles, doesn't seem to favour any particular region or distillery. he also has some Japanese themed tattoos and this has made think of going a bit left field and going for a japanese malt...... budget is prob £50-100, i have seen a bottle of yamazaki 12yr old @ £85 in a local shop (most other places seem to be £100+) or a yoichi single malt @ 74. over the PH whisky section to part their advice.......

happy for suggestions of japanese or scottish if its a bit different/ bit more specialised......

oh and I do have a whisky tasting at the scottish malt whisky society tonight, so maybe by the morning I will be a whisky connoisseur and wont be mixing my bourbon with coke!

Don't think you would be going wrong with either of the two mentioned - the Yamazaki sounds a bit of a bargain at that price.

Really stupid question but why the "comedy price increase" for the A'bunadh?

I assume it's because they think that people will pay it? Still £49.99 on Amazon, for now at least.

It's a real shame. When the current stocks are sold £80-90, will be the normal retail price.
