Was anyone hereabouts lucky enough to secure a bottle of the long awaited Daftmill inaugural release?
No...me neither but a friend who has followed their progress since inception 12 long years ago has finally been rewarded for his patience it seems...
I do suspect he may not be opening it any time soon though

A Whiskybroker post popped up on my Facebook page this evening on the tube journey home.
Arbelour 25 year old limited to 60 bottles for £75.
Sold out by the time I got home.
they have Wi-Fi on the underground now! Admittedly you'd have to step off the train to use it... unless you were quick whilst stopped in a station!Arbelour 25 year old limited to 60 bottles for £75.

Came back from the Feis Ile with a smaller haul than I normally do.
Some great masterclasses and tastings along the way by the likes of SMWS, Bruichladdich (was there ever a bad one), Lagavulin and Bowmore.
Between the four of us, this was our midweek haul before some of them had to depart the island.
Personally I got myself :
Couple of bottles of Lagavulin Feis Ile - 18 year old
Couple of bottles of Bruichladdich Feis Ile 'The Heretic' 17 year old
Couple of bottles of Laphroaig Cairdeas Fino finish.
Couple of bottles of Bowmores Feis Ile 2018.
Couple of bottles of SMWS 29.244
Bottle of Jura 'The Paps'
Bottle of Bruichladdich 1990 / 27 HB. Having sampled it thanks to Mary at the shop; that woman will be the ruin of me.
Bottle of Laphroaig Cask Strength 10 year old.
A bottle of Botanist Gin.
A bottle of Lussa Gin
I already had a couple of bottles of the Committee release of Ardbegs Grooves so didn't bother with the general release (although, sadly the general release is no Alligator)
All in all, quite a good haul.
To top it all; I visited my cask at Bruichladdich; all is well with it and probably 4 more years until I decide what to do with it.
Oh also forgot - I also came home with samples of all the drams that were tasted at the Bruichladdich Masterclass. The quadruple distilled Octomore at 70% was as smooth as a smooth thing.
The masterclass was streamed live - https://youtu.be/wYaU0InUt3A

Nice set of bottles there! Is it the Bowmore single cask, or the batch release that you got? I saw some people were queuing the day before for some of the bottles. And it seems a lot of people might have missed out on the Ardbeg Single Cask since they would have got the other Ardbeg bottles before. From the videos/ pics I saw looked a great event, with a lot of rare sun!
Anything like that, or any bottle they have with a dark sherry colour is gone very quickly.

They're the batch release. Folk were queuing for the single cask from 4pm the previous day to get a Willy Wonka golden ticket at 11am the next day. Once folk got their ticket (having paid £400), they were changing hands in the queue for £800. Crazy. The whole week was gorgeous, this year we didn't do Kilchoman/Bunnahabhain so had time to explore some more of the island. I hear that Bunnahabhain is getting refurbed - i.e., partially knocked down and then rebuilt, which if you ask me is long long overdue. Even a coat of paint would help the place look more attractive.
More recent arrivals from Whisky Broker...a couple more Sherry jobs from Tomintoul and Craigellachie respectively and something a little different in the form of an 8 y/o Ardmore aged in an ex-Islay (Laphroaig apparently) cask...should be interesting at 64.2% too.
I've also finally found time in between painting walls and playing with ring mains etc to open my recently acquired Kilchoman Loch Gorm and very nice it too...all these recent Sherried malts have got me slightly worried though, am I betraying the heavily peated Ardbegs and Laphroaigs that I started my whisky journey on a few short years ago?

You'll probably come back to them in the future if it helps,
I started with big sherry bomb whiskies, then moved into the big peated ones, and then moved onto the bigger flavour bourbon ones. Of course mixing a bit, but just went through some different phases as to what was preferred!
Trying this 1956 18yo Highland Park tonight. Bought a few cl off a friend. Nose is lovely - grapefruits, red apples, grassy, honey and a bit vegital too. However the taste is a bit flat, but with a reasonable finish. Not sure if it is the release in general, or the particular bottle.

Thanks, I'm sure a bit of variety is useful and it certainly makes things more interesting when perusing bottles.I started with big sherry bomb whiskies, then moved into the big peated ones, and then moved onto the bigger flavour bourbon ones. The HP 18 y/o looks pretty exceptional too, though I fear I'd have to make some serious austerity measures elsewhere to justify a bottle at present!

This arrived yesterday; my fourth bottle and the last one I can find anywhere online. It's just so delicious with beautiful confectionary notes, guess I have a sweet tooth!
This is my favourite! Waiting for Podie to deliver mineAlternatively, if anyone can give me a pointer to any other whiskies with a very similar profile to this, I would be mucho grateful. I've even messaged Ralfy to ask him, but although he was kind enough to reply to me, he has never tried it so couldn't help. He just pointed me to Whisky Base, info here:
