Just seen this is 60.8%
Had the email from UPS that mine's being delivered tomorrow. When I have an A'bunadh, I have the first taste neat and enjoy the 'slap in the chops', then add a teaspoon of water. The same approach needed with this I think - I hope it's good! I've also managed to find a bottle of the elusive Ben Riach Virgin Oak - in Belgium of all places. I've paid for it, now I'm just hoping it turns up. The store is Jurgen's Whiskyhuis.
Tomintoul 40 year old.
I got an e-mail through yesterday from an online whisky site saying there was £300 off a bottle of Tomintoul 40 year old.
I've had a look and it seems a cracking whisky, and only 500 decanters filled.
Takes a week to deliver as it is ordered up from the distillery upon purchase.
The code to enter at checkout is "tom300"
Code valid until the end of August or while stocks last.

I couldn't help buying this a few days ago too - £60 quid for a 23yo sherried whisky is a bargain no matter the distillery/bottler these days surely?

Dammit, you just cost me £60. https://www.whiskybroker.co.uk/70cl,-23yo-distille...
I can't believe there are any left to be honest!

The man from UPS has been. If this is decent and there are any left I think I'll grab another.

How do they even get something so old and yet so high in alcohol still given the angel share per year? Or is this me misunderstanding the concept of proof?
Actually, that's a very good point. IIRC, casks are generally filled at around 63-64%, and the angel's share can be between 0.5 and 2% per year depending on the barrel type and the storage conditions. I think the 'share per year' decreases over time, but even so it does seem to be pushing the limits of what's possible. Edit - here's an 11 year old at 66.2%, so presumable filled at still strength, which google tells me can be between 60 and 75%. Every day's a school day!

I'm spamming the forum here...
I now follow Whisky Broker on FB - today's release, a 16yo Arran, £40
https://www.whiskybroker.co.uk/70cl,-16yo-distille...
Who's going to try this one then?

HHmmmmmm quite tempted by that, wonder if Mrs Bobbers will let me? She said I could get the 23yr old if I wanted, but there's a couple of other things I want to buy this month.I now follow Whisky Broker on FB - today's release, a 16yo Arran, £40

At 2% angel share a year it would have had to have gone into the cask at ~95%.
At 1% - ~75%.
At 0.5% - ~68%.

Sixty point eight percent.
Nom.
Oof! Nom.
I'm hoping for some sort of 'early-A'bunadh-alike', but older. And cheaper.
Very happy with it, in fact I was going to buy another but it looks to be sold out.
