Surprised Glenfarclas was disappointing, but can understand with the closure. Sometimes I find that is interesting in itself, as you can see stuff you wouldn't normally get to see (for example inside the stills etc). That said, I am perhaps a bit biased as when we were there we got to taste the 1961 cask that is 1 to the right of your pic, which was amazing!
Maybe I was all sherried out from the earlier tour, who knows?NRS said:
Which of the Solera parts (Virgin, Bourbon, Sherry) did you like best?
Probably the Bourbon. My 'blend' ended up 40% Bourbon, 40% Virgin, 20% Sherry. The Solera is, IIRC, 70% Sherry, 20% Bourbon, 10% Virgin.Bobberoo99 said:
A great write up, it's given us a couple of ideas for 2020, the Mashed Tun has just been added to our list of places to stop, the Glenffidich Solera for me is delicious and I get a bottle from time to time!!!
Can't fault the Mash Tun, I'll go there every time we visit. Their food is very good - the black pudding and haggis starter is just something else. NRS said:

I think I was expecting too much maybe, and as you know, a big part of the tour is the amazing array of smells you get. Some stuff you wouldn't normally see - like inside an empty mash tun, and inside an empty wash back. This thing was huge!

Steak is also recommended if you've not had it! Very tasty!LeighW said:

Nice. I ended up 100% sherry, to be able to share the sample with a friend who hadn't had a single cask Glenfiddich. The abv also reduced by 5% on the label for importing, LeighW said:

Nice range of stuff there - although missing some peat bombs,
Best not to post your address on here, or there will be a few people on here after those Benriach 1999's!
What's the bottle to the left of the Glen Keith? A Glengoyne of some sort?
Thanks. Hehe, you can probably tell I'm not a fan of peated whisky; the only one I've ever tried that I liked was a Lagavulin 16 Distillers Edition, a 2015 bottling. Tried a Bowmore once, I think No1? Christ. TCP. Best not to post your address on here, or there will be a few people on here after those Benriach 1999's!

If you break in after my Benriach 99s, well.. you've got to ask yourself one question: 'Do I feel lucky?' Well do ya, punk?
It's just a Glengoyne 10, but a personalised bottle that my wife bought me a few years ago. It has a photo of us on it, but thankfully the photo is from my phone so you can't make out my ugly mug!
