I saw Aldi have there Christmas Reserve in store, any one tried it?
Inver House apparently...
Scuse? Inver House is a grouping - Pulteney, Balblair, Knockdhu, Speyburn and Balmenach Inver House apparently...
Of these only Speyburn and Balmenach are Speyside, the others are all Highland. So is this really a Balmenach or Speyburn?

It's almost impossible to get definitive proof.
In the final analysis, you either like it or you don't.

I'm going to give it a miss this year i think. £50 buys a pretty decent bottle with a known origin! I may weaken if I see it in store though...Inver House apparently...

£50 for 30 year old single malt, I think I'll give it a go...
Fair point, but it depends on what quality of cask it's spent 30 years in. Last year's was a 29, and was ok for £40. £50? Not so sure. A Glendronach 15 is only a bit more than that, and is a cracker.Re Glendronach 15yo revival, I got a couple of those on the recommendations here, pretty good at £60, but tried it back to back with a Glenfarclas 15yo and it's no better imho and that's £48...

But at £50 there is simply too many other favourites around that price point that I know I love.
I still haven't been converted to peat. Maybe one day.
I'm going to the Leicester whisky festival tomorrow night with a friend who has considerably deeper pockets than me. Hopefully I won't wake up on Sunday feeling both rough and skint! Looking foward to it though, we've booked for a masterclass of whisky and cheese matching with Glengoyne.
