Any decent whisky (or bourbon, etc) deals floating around the supermarkets for easter?
I've been to asda and they had 1litre jamersons for £22. (with 70cl ones costing 50p more lol)
Tamnavulin is quite a popular one on here. that's down from £32 to £20 in asda (70cl).
BuffaloTrace £20 Highland Park £25 in MorrisonsI've been to asda and they had 1litre jamersons for £22. (with 70cl ones costing 50p more lol)

What do you think of the Shackleton's? I was a bit disappointed.
I've had a couple of beers and a good sized Tamnavulin, now enjoying a measure of Aberlour A'bunadh, just got a lovely hit of sweet liquorice from it!!
I don't mind it, does have a slightly odd taste that I can't quite put my finger on. I'm a bit disappointed by the Aberlour 16, slightly harsh, almost bitter flavour. My favourites are Glenfiddich IPA and Laphroaig 10I've had a couple of beers and a good sized Tamnavulin, now enjoying a measure of Aberlour A'bunadh, just got a lovely hit of sweet liquorice from it!!

I managed - God knows how though!
Jealous. Flipping I assume? I would have been! What do you think they'll go for, given that the arse seems to have fallen out of the NAS Macallan market?I do think the folios tend to do OK as they’re pretty limited unlike the “rare cask” . I think there is about 2500 bottles again. Maybe 1200 ish then head down?
Really decent of you to offer!
Back home from the SoS. Had a good time!
Day 1 was Off the Beaten Track tour. Visited Allt-A-Bhainne, Braeval, Tormore and Dalmunach. Nice to see distilleries that are not normally open. Also small thing, but you were allowed to take pics, which makes a change from the past in the big company owned distilleries. Highlight was the absolutely amazing lunch with Ghillie Besan at her house. Food was exceptional. Also got to try some of the first spirit from the Dalmunach stills at 4.5 years maturation. Seems promising, although will be for blending.
Day 2 was Benriach in the morning. Fun tour with Stewart Buchanan. Fun guy, and got a big passion and knowledge of the distillery. Tasted 6 different whiskies from the range. Got to see the malting floor too. Then in the afternoon it was off to GlenAllachie. Fast whistlestop tour to start, and the rest of the few hours was in a blending class with Billy Walker. Great fun, and playing around with 5 different single cask whiskies to make our own blend which we could take home. And asking him any questions we wanted etc. He basically had to sell the other 3 distilleries due to the other investors he was with. He actually tried to buy Glenglassaugh back after as he feels he has unfinished work there. Got a lift from David at the end, who took me a small detour to see the their water source which was cool.
Day 3 started at Glen Keith, interesting stills with lots of different styles. Then one of the ambassadors took me briefly into the warehouse to check out the 2 Glenugie casks they have there. Afternoon we took a tour from Elgin to visit Glentuachers, Miltonduff and Glenburgie.
Last day for me was Saturday, where we did Glen Moray World Cup. Tasting 8 non-peated single casks, where you taste 2 at a time and the best one goes through to the next round (starting in "quarter finals"). Winner of final will be used for the bottle your own at the distillery in the future. Then we did the same again with 8 peated whiskies!
Great long weekend, love the festival generally! Picked up a BYO Glen Moray virgin oak finished peated whisky, 2 of the GlenAllachie port cask bottling for the festival, and the Marsala GlenAllachie BYO too. Plus my own blend of course!
Cheesy pic with Billy Walker!

Some of the fruits of a recent week on Islay, a second visit and so much has changed since 2017....especially Ardnahoe, though it seems to have divided local opinion somewhat.
Looking forward to the next visit already albeit probably not until 2021 realistically, quite a road trip from Southampton too but will be so worth it if at least some of the current expansion/new build plans come to fruition?
All good stuff but personal highlights are probably the wee Bunnahabhain 14 y/o Moine PX Finish, and on the right the irrrestible Kilchoman 12 y/o Distillery Shop exclusive...beautiful stuff on tasting and truly limited as a single cask bottling of 228 bottles, not hideously expensive but broke new ground for my wallet
