Bad news, seems like that ought to be hard to move on for anything like the original value, unless it was stolen to order.
I was after a big chocolatey scotch to use as a dessert drink. Had Glenmorangie Signet before which was lovely, went with Glenmorangie Quinta this time which is really nice for the price. Suspect it's not quite as smooth or rich as the signet but then costs 1/3 as much and a very nice drink, so happy with that:

The old Quinta Ruban which was a 12 yo was much better than the 14 that replaced it IMO. Still decent though.Currently drinking an 8 year Bunnahabhain bottled by Artful Dodger (cask 900710) - bourbon matured, then spent some time in a Vino De Colour cask - Ruben of Whisky Notes gives a history of it here https://www.whiskynotes.be/2022/bunnahabhain/bunna...
Much like modern 'sherry bombs', I don't really think of this as whisky. This is definitely something else though. The nose is wonderful old sherry. Having bought a full bottle, after a couple of pours, I've found the bitterness calms down quite a bit. This is a case, for me, where trying a sample doesn't tell the full story.
I think Nickolls & Perks still have stock. Well worth seeking out, and having never tried a whisky partially (I'm assuming 6 months?) matured in a Vino de Colour cask, I'd love to know what others think, if anyone else buys a full bottle.

I've got a Coffey Malt on the go at the moment, personally I prefer thier "from the barrel", although some people probably turn thier noses up a bit at it being a blend.
I was very tempted by that From the Barrel and am not in the least bothered about the blended nature. I’ll enjoy the Coffey Malt for a few months but can see the Barrel dropping into my online trolley in coming months….

Highlight was a double matured Lagavulin, which was a new one on me.
The Distillers Edition. I first tried it a few years ago when we were staying at the Mash Tun in Aberlour. After breakfast we were chatting to the lady behind the bar, she was asking what types of whisky we liked. I said I wasn't overly keen on peated whisky, she said 'oh really?', grabbed the Lagavulin off the shelf and poured us a dram. Wow, lovely. Smokey but delicious and sweet too. This would have been a 2016 or 2017 bottling. The one you tried is here:

Visits to Milroy's are seldom cheap.

Going to Kintyre in a couple of weeks and will be picking up a Springbank, Longrow, Hazelburn and Kilkerran. Would be rude not to in all honesty.
The last time I went to Campbeltown in 2002 I bought a bottle of Bruichladdich because I liked the look of the tin. Inside was a small booklet outlining the aims of the new owners. The booklet also advertised a cask offer, whereby various cask types (bourbon, sherry and peated if I recall) could be purchased. I liked the whisky enough to decide to buy a cask, and 20 years later have just received this, a sample which I get every year - It's now 19 years old and just over 60% proof so it can continue to age. The cask is ex Bourbon and holds the equivalent of approximately 220 bottles. I tried it last night with a splash of water and it's lovely, a typical Bruichladdich from the Jim McEwan years. It's a light colour as Bruichladdich didn't add caramel to darken the spirit and it's non chill filtered.
Wow, some interesting bottles there! Not a bad few days of whisky shopping! Are you on a break for a bit after that lot?
Quite a few of the First Casks are underappreciated from my (limited) experience.

Slightly off-topic but I've been asked if I recognise this whisk(e)y from the label.
While I'm sure I've seen it, and probably tasted it, I'm struggling to remember what it is - the only clues are the distillery was founded in the 1800's and has a name ending CH. Any ideas??
Did you ever get the answer to this? I was thinking Fettercarin from the colours, but suspect it's a Bruichladdich, but couldn't find a match despite looking for ages! Me on the way to Feis Ile: "I doubt I'll buy much whisky".
Also me:
On a more serious note, it's a fantastic festival full of really knowledgeable whisky lovers from all over the world. I can't recommend it highly enough.

The only First Cask bottling I have is a Cragganmore 22yo, I bought it at auction when I spotted that it was distilled on 28/5/85, the very day my wife was born. It'll probably be opened on a special birthday.
I just got caught up in the excitement of the festival special releases. A tale as old as time itself.
The one that really excites me is the Friends of Laddie special, which was a very limited release done on the quiet. Sadly it was limited to a single bottle per person.
I got very carried away with the Lagavulin release, buying 4 bottles, only to head down to a tasting event with the legendary Ian McArthur and listen to him tell us all how much he hated it. Great...

Anyone looking for something interesting on the heavily sherried strong treacle, chocolate style I'd highly recommend this. I tried it at a tour of their warehouses a few weeks ago and was very impressed, so bought a bottle. It's surprisingly strong for a 5 year old, nearly as much as a Glendronach 18, yet half the price. I also got to smell the specific barrel it came from!

I've grabbed another bottle...

You could be right with Bruichladdich, as I do recognise the fonts used. The only other candidate I had in mind was Bushmills, but ruled that out from the name. The annoying thing was I solved a similar challenge in about 5 mins recently
Thanks for trying though!!
