Maybe late with this - but that's Singleton 12 year. Slow Batch Distilled. Being specific it's their Glen Ord.

You're not late at all, as it was still annoying me - so thanks for solving that one!!

The "Slow Batch" sent me off on a wild goose chase, but I do remember seeing the label somewhere.

It was the edged letter 2 that got me. I recall seeing it somewhere and had a search back through stuff I've emptied recently.

Currently working my way through a Balvenie Caribbean cask. Just finished a Dalmore, it was that bad I had to use a mixer.
The cask is my second bottle this year, it’s a rare tipple

^^ Tasty drop, the Caribbean Cask. I've a bottle sitting next to the one below which, by coincidence, I cracked this evening.

Thanks, me too! I was considering asking on a Whatsapp group I’m on with some extremely knowledgeable whisky people, who would likely have got it.

Could anyone recommend a good “starter” Islay for c.£35ish at all, please? I’m usually a fan of Speysides, and and having recently tried Highlands and a Cambletown, I really liked them too. (Glen Scotia double cask is my new fave). As a result I’d like to try an Islay, just one that won’t blow my brains out!
Classic Laddie or Kilchoman Machir Bay, I reckon
Can't go wrong with either of those. Just steer clear of Ardbeg and Laphroaig at that price if you're not a fan of whiskeys where peat dominates.
In a “how bad can it be” moment, I took a punt on a single of Laphroaig 10 at the pub. Several more measures later and I was won over. Such an incredible depth of flavour (to my untrained pallets, anyway). I was wrong all along!

Sorry to say that I really disagree there. The young Laphroaig bottles are a very unsophisticated dram to my palate. Visiting and tasting at all the distilleries on Islay it was stark how disappointing the cheaper Laphroaig offering was relative to others.

I too have enjoyed a caribbean cask; it's great. Have also purchased that one as gifts for others. Also, you're not alone in slamming Dalmore. A whisky fan friend of mine said that his was the worst he'd ever purchased. I can't recall if it was cigar malt or 18 but one of those i think.

there's a fairly medicinal quality to the peatiness of Laphroiag, but now that you've discovered a new love then the world's your oyster... certainly in the island malts! Next stop Ardbeg!

Which one? The "For Discussion" which was out before? Or is there a UK only release of it, hence no email for me?

A couple of recent addition. This is my 2nd bottle of the kavalan… the first didn’t last long.

it's 'for discussion', yes. It may be a further release but it's committee only this time.

Limited to just 6 bottles each! Along with a note on the product page saying not to worry if it says out of stock, there is more coming.

It’s already been on sale since before the start of February - I bought a couple then. At first it was 1-2 bottle limit, but they changed it to 6 after a bit.

Picked this up on Brittany Ferries, only £25. I used to drink Armorik when I lived in Brittany, it's cheap, but only in price. This 46% Sherry cask is more than good for not much money.

I've had this for over a year now. It's good but not as good as Corryvreckan or Uigeadail. Very enjoyable though.

ardcore appears to not be selling quite as well as ardbeg had hoped, from what i can see. £120 for a bottle on whisky exchange.

I drank the non-committee one at Feis Ile, and it really wasn't good. Just horribly over-peated, and it just felt very young and lacking in any complexity of flavour.

We brought a haul of bottles back from the festival, and could have bought as many of those as we'd wanted. I bought an Uigeadale instead.

I was pleasantly surprised when I picked up an original edition in a Carrefour for less than €15 a few years back. The was just on the off chance it would be drinkable, but ended up buying another on a later visit, and added a sherry version.

I've had the same experience with DYC 10yr old in Spain, as that reminds me of a decent Lowland whisky.
