This time of year I enjoy trying many different whiskies through purchase of reduced advent calendars... this year is the MoM's That Boutiquey Whisky Company one.

Added those that I've tried so far to my whisky rating sheet:

Not mine but my auld mans collection.

There an Irish Green Spot added to the Blue and Yellow spots now.

Don't think there's anything fancy or exuberant, think he just likes buying bottles! lol

Its nice to see the drinkers getting some attention again! biggrin I haven't bought much whisky recently as I have been slimming down my collection to just a few bottles. I've been that busy I've sadly struggled to find the time to wind down with a nice dram recently so my consumption had decreased. However, being on the MoM email list has its dangers and their siren call snared me a few weeks ago.

I opened an email full of their own bottlings and settled on the Strathdearn 7 Year Old Single Cask, I believe its a Tomatin in all but name, so I'm looking forward to it. I do find some of these independent bottlings complete gems, one of my all time favourite drams was a Whisky Broker 22 year old Speyside bought for a steal. IIRC it was very popular on this thread too. Alas, it seems hard to find these days.

Haven't posted in here for some time, but I've grabbed a few pics off my phone of recent purchases. I've been trying really hard (ish) not to buy any bottles at all lately, but I was in Edinburgh just before Christmas, and well, I needed some nice Christmas sherry bombs... biggrin

I got these from Cadenheads, absolute beauties. The Tullibardine is your archetypal Christmas Cake in a bottle - no bad thing.

No caramel colouring in here.

I also bought this from Royal Mile Whiskes. NAS, but 46% abv, non chill filtered, natural colour, and under £45! It's a stunner, if you like a sweet but complex sherried whisky you really can't go wrong here - dangerously moreish, I'm getting down the bottle at a rate of knots. Dry January? Err, nope. whistle

At 46.3% we’ve found you need a decent glug of water with it to open it out nicely…

Very nice, less sweetness and a bit dryer, (Oloroso as opposed to PX), reminds me of earlier bottlings of Aberlour A'bunadh, but without the cask strength punch in the face. biggrin
