Cardhu Gold Reserve is £25.00 in Asda at the moment. I bought a bottle earlier and am looking forward to comparing it with the Cardhu 12.

Even with special offers the Whisky hobby is getting expensive - I currently have about 10 different bottles on the go. At least by buying similar ones there is less chance of SWIMBO finding out I have bought yet another bottle!

I'm debating whether to try and sneak in a £44 bottle of Uigeadail using the code here... http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/lagavulin-distille...

You're not alone, this has been going down steadily since Christmas.

Great piece of engineering, I love the way you can switch the tanks.

Had a Kilkerran 12yo not so long back, quite difficult to get but edges the Springbank imho.

I'd only be interested if it had 3 tanks for that price, wink

Tried it straight out of the bottle and then with a drop of water, much prefer it with water...............rich and creamy perfect for a Sunday afternoon.
I stay roughly once a fortnight in Forres where this is produced. The place I stay (The Clunybank) had the full range, have tried them all and enjoyed the lot.

Two different ones this weekend, firstly a Compass Box The Peat Monster, a blend of single malts that despite the name was no more Peated than say a Bowmore, very nice.

And last night I tried the stocking filler I got at Christmas, an English single malt, the other end of the peat spectrum to the above but delicate and quite nice too.

I've been tempted a few times at my local wine shop to pick up the same bottle of Compass Box, maybe I'll give it a go one weekend.
PS nice cat.

Like you I wasn't sure as I don't normally go for vatted malts but thought I'd give it a try. They are open about what goes into them too and publish the blend details.

I was a little underwhelmed by the peat monster when I had a bottle last year. From the name and the cthulhu monster on the box I was expecting/hoping that it was going to be 'my' whisky. It was pleasant enough but disappointing at the same time if that makes sense!

Agree it's nice, but not special, ticked it off the list now. That's the beauty of scotch for me, I seem to be on a quest to find the one, I haven't found it yet and probably never will....

Yep. I think someone is in for a bit or a bking. My GF managed to order 2 bottles at 8am GMT. I then tried but could not log in until 9am when it went live as advertised. Still managed my 2 bottles but has my GF didn't receive conformation she ordred again and we have ended up with 6 bottles!

Have just been on the phone to cancel 2 of them.
