get on the sherry not the whisky
Apparently they're pouring around 1/3 of produced sherry away as there is more demands for sherry casks for making whisky than there is for the sherry in them these days.
I was talking to someone from Macallan who told me something similar (a lower percentage but the same sentiment).

Talking about other liquids, I went to a Bajan Rum tasting last week with one of my sons hosted by Foursquare. My what a nice surprise, as close as you will get to the standards of a 'single malt' in a Rum.

We tried 3, 5, 6(XO) & 12year old Doorly's, RL Seale's 10 year old, Foursquare 11 year old Zinfandel cask & a 2004 cask strength. Bought the XO and Zinfandel...highly recommended.

I'm not much of a whisky drinker, but was in Ireland last night and and found myself in a nice bar specialising in whisky.

On the advice of the staff, I tried a Method & Madness single malt which I thought was fabulous. Can anyone recommend another whisky with a similar taste?

For those that didn't manage to get and try the 12 year old Kilkerran last year there is limited stock of the 2017 release at Cadenheads, best £36 you'll spend on a whisky imho.

Had these two delivered from Caldenheads today, looking forward to trying them. Glengyle 12 year old Kilkerran and a 15 year old Sherry cask Springbank, both 2017 releases, the Kilkerran is already limited to one bottle per customer.

Topped up the drinks cabinet with a vist to Waitrose using my John Lewis vouchers.

Bowmore 12
Glenfiddich Solera
Lagavulin 16

Noticed all the Japanese whisky had dissapeared from the cabinet too, so that'll need topping up soon. hehe

The Uigadail is one of my faves, and one of the faves of several of my friends. A great whisky for ~£50!

Had wondered when you would comment, biggrin

Speaking about peaty/smokey whisky I got an email today saying the OBA Octomore was getting bottled today and should be sent out by the end of the week. Interesting to see what it tastes like.

I take it that the pre orders are not available anymore? The link just takes me back to the Octomore page .

Been enjoying the 7.1 for a week or so.
