Pizza Oven Thread

Some good points. I used my 2S to make around 15 pizzas a few weeks back before the boxing. It was a colder day with a bit of a breeze so it was difficult to manage the fire and keep the oven at the right temp. A gas burner feels like cheating but if the likes of Pizza Pilgrims use gas ovens in their pizzerias who am I to complain.
I still need to get the revised hopper for my 2S and see how that helps. The aftermarket flame guard sort of helps to stop pellets from falling onto the stone when refuelling.
With regards to dough, I'm still happy with thw premade frozen dough balls I purchased for big cooks but I might switch back to making my own stuff for when I'm only making a handful of pizzas.
Trying to work out if there is any point in selling my 2S and buying a 3.

How many sachets of yeast you using for the above?
& how many does that cater for.?
Very close to ordering a Uuni 3 after reading this thread.
Recently had a failed experiment with a cheap gas oven from Dobbies which wouldn't get to temperature and almost dried out the base before cooking the topping (luckily they agreed and provided a full refund without even requesting return! - fair play and good customer service).
I would REALLY like the Roccboxx, but I just can't get past the difference in price - I can buy a Uuni and treat myself to a Weber Master Touch for less than the dearer pizza oven.

Cant comment on the Uuni but the Roccbox is a quality bit of kit. Although its hard to argue against the cost difference.Recently had a failed experiment with a cheap gas oven from Dobbies which wouldn't get to temperature and almost dried out the base before cooking the topping (luckily they agreed and provided a full refund without even requesting return! - fair play and good customer service).

Ah don't go saying that when I've managed to talk myself out of the Roccbox I use my Roccbox now to cook all sorts from pizza to steak to veg.
Seriously can see that it is a quality bit of kit, but a Uuni AND a Weber will give me more (I think).

Just ordered a Uuni, went through John Lewis, same price as everywhere else but 2 year warranty, excited, going to be a long few days wait
Good shout, I wish I had thought of that. Although on reflection Lakeland have it and are even better - 3 years on everything!Lynchie999 said:

If its the same as this,https://www.ebay.co.uk/i/222531272531?chn=ps&dispItem=1&adgroupid=33676502101&rlsatarget=pla-271883445835&abcId=893836&adtype=pla&merchantid=7333554&poi=&googleloc=9045091&device=c&campaignid=707291931&crdt=0 I really rated the one I hired last year
Are you building it in? I very nearly pulled the trigger on one yesterday (the supplier is literally 5 mins from my house) but wasnt sure I could justify £150 for the stand.
But I do like the fact its then portable (albeit I'd just move it round the garden to a sheltered area (car port) if it was raining.
Really want to start making my own pizzas, currently in a flat but looking for a house in 12 months. Once I have a house will be looking to get a pizza over/BBQ/tandoor built in the back, but until then has anybody got any good alternatives? A pizza stone I heard were good for oven use? Would I also need a paddle?

Get an Uuni (might be best with the gas add on inside!), then mod the chimney (by adding some extra ducting) ... so the chimney goes out of a window! Well, I've been out in the garden today with a view to where I could put the maximus oven I referred to above.
Bit of a result, it looks like I already have a plinth which could be used (would need to remove some topiary first) and possibly add a couple of cut sleepers to give me some additional height, or get a brickie mate to add another couple of courses.
It then got me thinking about pre built ovens and the benefits of both.
The maximus is £600 and delivers decent results for pizza and takes 30 mins to heat up. But it won't cook roasts etc due to not holding heat long enough (I believe). Also portable if needs be.
Pre built will give me better insulation. But longer heat up time, no portability but will cook meats (I think).
Is there a decent pre built oven for around £600 or am I better sticking with what the Maximus?
Pictures of base are attached, it's 88cm x 88cm so would support most pre made ovens I guess.

Personally, I like very thin crispy Neapolitan style pizza so the Franco Manca "pan" method works really well for me but I also have a couple of pizza stones so we can do at least two at a time for the kids etc.No need for a paddle, just an old baking sheet and some semolina if you are using a stone. If its in a pan, nothing else.
