Hhmmm, I've always told myself I hate Marmite, but havnt tried it in god knows how long, 25-20 years I guess.

I love savoury foods, olives, pickles, strong cheese etc, so based on this thread I guess I should give it another chance.

What would be the "optimum" tasting experiance?

Toasted white soft bread with lots of butter and a little marmite?

Decent bit of bread and butter should do.

I've never heard of having it with peanut butter so I'm going to try that I think.

MMMMM!
Mid-morning snack, chestnut mushrooms fried in garlic on sourdough toast spread with butter and Marmite.
Lovely.

Tried this yesterday as an 'I'm starving' type snack.

Smallish baguette, cut in half / thin layer of butter or spread / layer of Marmite / layer of...hommous!

Was surprisingly delicious. Will be trying again.

Never tried it, nor peanut butter. Into my 4th decade!

So, following on from this, today way the day!

Marmite purchased (no point wasting ££ on a full tub if I don't like it!)

Pitta bread toasted, buttered and marmited, note the control

So then it was taste time, and I've got to be honest, at first I was like

However, I tried it a few more times, and after a few bites, you know what happened?

I still hate marmite!

I love marmite.

I wouldn't mix them, but if you like marmite, gentleman's relish would be worth trying too.

It looks to me as if you spread it too thick — you only need the thinest of smears. More than that & it can be overpowering, unless you're a true addict smile

sidekickdmr - it looks as though you made the same rookie mistake I did when I tried it a while ago, far too much Marmite for an introduction, it's potent stuff to us newcomers, you only need enough to cover the tip of a knife and then you spread this out really thin. Then as you get braver you can increase the amount, I doubt I'll ever get to the levels you have there though, that's pretty hardcore to me.

Add a *throwup* with some *throwup* and *throwup* for throwup levels please...

Although, someone recently told me about beans on marmite on toast, anyone tried it?

Yup, lovely.
I've eaten banana and Marmite sarnies with peanut butter. I love 'em they make my wife heave.
