there not tiny tiny a la whitecastle (without the sts), there slightly smaller than a mcds hamburger i would say.

Best imo, when they were at the wharf the bleecker black was very dangerous to my waist and wallet.

The Beefy Boys, to whose Hereford restaurant I have gone well out of my way to visit because they are so good, are opening in Cheltenham in a couple of months' time. That is a bit less off the beaten track and their burgers are the best I've had anywhere - I'd recommend a visit. Having tried their more recent Shrewsbury restaurant and found consistent quality there, I have high hopes for Cheltenham. Although I risk getting fat(ter) since it'll be so much easier for me to get to.
Burgerlad tweeted as such, interesting to here his review as and when they do compared with honest/solvita etc.

Looking forward to my annual trip to cornwall to go to Boo-Koos in Helston (also in falmouth) Fantastic burgers.
highly recommend Bals Burger works in St Ives too. Well worth a small detour from Helston.

Wow.

To be fair on my one trip to Five Guys I literally bit off more than I could chew so maybe they're still big enough but that looks damned small for nearly a tenner.

blas also have a rotisserie but for some inexplicable reason i have never tried it. so could be another option. word of warning blas aint cheap and you need to call up early if your planning takeaway in peak holiday times.

I'd wanted to try Bleeker but after seeing that I'm not so keen.

With 5 Guys it is expensive but you won't leave hungry.

Sandford Park Alehouse. 6/10. £15. The Brioche Bun was too hard and the burger was overcooked. Chips were well seasoned however. I was surprised it came in a basket even though it said so on the menu. I am stupid. Beer selection was great.

with all due respect 5 guys is like the town center saturday night fun fair burger van in comparison to bleecker...really not comparable.

i dont dislike 5 guys but wouldnt choose to have it as taste wise its little better than the lesser chains imo (apart from the nice salty fries), and not as good as its peers like shakeshack etc, but bleecker is a whole different level.

They’re not the biggest, although I always get my burger cut in half so that shot might be misleading due to angle…

My local Chippie has upped his medium chip portion from £2 to £3. Large saveloy is upped from £1 to £2.50. Ditto large sausage. That should fund his new Bently ok. Medium chips, 2 Savaloys/sausage has gone from £4 to £8. I never thought the Chippie was any good at maths.

Happened to be in Birmingham last Sunday and took my normal detour to OPM (Purveyors of filth)

I had a burger with bacon and cheese, naked fries and cherry coke glazed wings.

It didn’t disappoint

I agree with that. The 5G burgers are nothing to write home about, but the fries make me go back.

ShakeShack slightly better burgers with worse fries.

Honest is good and dependable. I like the Tribute.

Bleecker v good, v beefy, bit too small.

Burger and Beyond good but not memorable.

Hawksmoor ditto.

Bar Boulud was epic but now shut down.

Flat Iron ok - they deep fry their patties which means they have a nice crust but I think end up being a bit dry.

Black Bear v v good - prob my favourite, just above Bleecker.

Bake St is nice but not worth travelling to the arse end of nowhere to sit in a weird cafe.

Its annoying that you can't book a table. I have been to two of them in The City and they were good. I get them well done as I don't like them pink in the middle, don't like raw mince neither do the people I ate with.
Think I will go back and try the Honest or Tribute.

On the fries -actually found them a bit too salty for my tastes.

I'm at the Crown and Cushion near Fleet tomorrow, do rather like their Mexican Hot Burger, always had a good flavour (you can taste the beef through all the chilli sauce), nice level of char, however the chips are not that great.

Beefy boys Dirty boy doubled up. 4 x 3oz patties.

Came out piping hot, edges were crisp with a perfect char, nicely seasoned, the meat very very tender and juicy. The bun was soft and fresh…Soaked in juices it still held together. Would’ve liked some pickles.
This was right up there with some of the best I’ve had.

I had similar last night from a new place that opened nearby. £9 for 2 5oz smash style burgers with crispy bacon and brisket topped with Swiss cheese and onions cooked in beef dripping. Very robust homemade bun too that held up perfectly.

Fabulous.

I had smash patties last time I went - not intentionally, but I was surprised how much I liked them.
