There is a GBK opposite 5Gs in Guildford. I prefer it. You can't say their burgers are bad or average. They are good. I still think the White Hart in Witley is the best I've had. I'm bloody fussy and won't have a burger at at unknown place after a bad experience at a pub once which I can't forget.

I too had a good GBK experience, as a pre-beerage burger it was very nice but a little over priced. Doesn't rate anywhere near Almost Famous and the like but definitely better than 5G.

5G just built a new one near us, direct competition is Chiquitos (always dead, surely must be struggling), Nandos (always packed), F&B's (always packed). Never seen it busy.

Wonder how much extra business the Meerkat meals is bringing to places like F&B's, I hate the place, really over priced rubbish but it's always rammed (and the kids like it so I'm doomed to repeat visits).

gbk are similar, but tastier too me at least, to 5guys. what people who dont really know a good burger think is a good burger.

a good burger place will offer it pink in the middle, i know gbk claim to offer that in reality when you order it it never is.

Wetherspoons.

£6 odd for a burger and chips. Go at the right time and a drink is included.

Excellent fare.
Pay a bit more for their Drive Thru Burger on the gourmet burger menu. Comes wrapped in silver foil, a great burger.

owned under the same company that owns Frankie & bennies & garfunkels right? I remember when i was about 16 going to garfunkels for the first time (someones bday) thinking the prices were ridiculous (mid 00s) even back in teh 00s chiquitos was bad, one time we waited over an hour for hour main. getting drinks took almost half an hour. thankfully that chiquitos closed down.

I had a friend who used to work at F&B and he told me that if you left any meatballs on your plate they'd reuse them for someone elses order, the best thing to do is to drench it in salt.

No the best thing to do is not eat there. And salt only masks flavours, at low concentrations it won't make it safer to eat.

All, i give you the burger menu from the Brandling Villa in South Gosforth, just outside of Newcastle.

https://www.brandlingvilla.com/main-menu/

If anyone has a better burger name than the "Pato Banton ruined my interview at the Department of Work and Pensions" then i'm giving up the internet.

Also home to the "Dirty Thoughts of Cheryl Cole" burger...

Edited to add - here's the link to the full menu which includes Glasgow Salad - or chips as they're known.

Out of principle I’d give it a miss. A Greggs sausage roll, being one of the ingredients. Yuck

Jesus, this place baffles me...
GBK are "the best".
Wetherspoons offers "good" burgers.
Man v Food in Hounslow is "the best".

I have to wonder where some of you guys are eating if these are your impressions of good burgers...

Spoons burgers offer value for money when you look at the price
GBK is passable, not the best, but still OK
If I'm anywhere near Hounslow then I am going over to Southall or Hayes for a curry

Does that mean a McDonald's hamburger is "good" because you can buy it for less than a quid?
Food offering value-for-money and being "good" aren't the same thing.

The odd ones out are obvious to me. Given you didn’t call it ‘spoons’ I assume this one distended the force wink

VFM = cost and quality being taken into equal consideration. As such, they both offer good VFM.
