A local brewery has recently extended it's drinking hall and has added a small kitchen.
Beer is great and pleased to say so is the food.
If you're ever looking for somewhere interesting to go in York, this is well worth checking out.

That looks like a great burger and most importantly a burger in a proper bun, none of this brioche bun bks.
But will they cook it pink?

Went to GBK today. No wonder they're downscaling.

The waiter tried explaining how there were 3 different ways of ordering. Tick boxes on paper/Use the app/order at the counter which just confused us all then they had run out of Halloumi and the food came out cold.

also a Single patty burger and chips with no drink came to £15.

Did you have no idea of their pricing level before you went there?

Was out shopping (so already in a bad mood) a couple of weekends ago with the mrs and we stopped for something to eat at 5 guys... FFS £24.something for 2 cheese burgers, 1 fries and 1 milkshake. WTF!!!

I am generally not a skinflint but I almost walked. Hunger took over, took about 10 minutes to make it and it was nice I will give them that however about half way through my burger the mrs said whats that in your burger... I pulled out what could only be described as a matted pile of pubes. redfaceredfaceredface

Took it all back and they took one look at it and think they knew what it was. They gave me my money back in about 10 seconds and offered to replace it all but I declined. Should have taken a pic really.

Good job she was with me or I would not have spotted it. <throws up>
Wow, that's grim.

Could've done some real damage if you got a photo and were so inclined to launch a social media campaign.

The 'pubeburger' was born.
Eeek! yikeshurl

That's put me off even wanting to try the 1st 5 Guys opened locally.
(Mind you, I went past it last Saturday afternoon and it was RAMMED, so I went to BK next door instead smile )

Red, didn't you ask them WTF it was? I highly doubt it was pubes but you never know. I'd want to know for sure. I would have thrown up.

I can't recall whether the staff wear hair nets etc. Dreadlocks? Either way its fking disgusting.

Just came back from my second visit to Honest Burgers in a week. Quite possibly the best burgers I've had full stop, usurping Bleecker Burger as the current king. Pink and juicy, lots of cheese. Top nommage.

I went for the Good Karma burger - Beef, Karma Cola candied bacon, double American cheese, shoestring fries, Karma bacon gravy, red onion and bush pepper pickles served up with Rosemary salted chips.

That's what it looked like. My only hope was it was animal of origin and thankfully the mrs stopped me as the next bite would have been the "money shot".

It was almost like a scab... with hairs matted into it. Or maybe a really big nose bugger, again with hairs. Not making this any better am I?

The main thing is it did not end up in my mouth!

You're a good guy for not going full savage, I give you props! I know people who would have milked it all the way to a daily fail article.

My favourite burger place by a mile. I also like their breakfasts.

Have to say not tried a % Guys here in Colchester (pr anywhere else). Now this thread has put me off.

Instead, have been a few times to Love Thy Burger.

Lovely food, reasonable prices and great rosemary fires, plus normal.

It shouldn't be so hard to produce what is essentially a simple meal, well. Sadly it does seem somewhat hit or miss

I rarely go into London, but that is on my todo list next time I do - I know it is their promo shot but that looks great and if two of you here really rate the place that is good enough for me!

If anyone is ever in Oxford (or Bristol), this is our go-to burger place (with options +/- £10)
https://atomicburger.co.uk/img/atomic-menu-burger-...

However one of the best burgers I’ve had in the uk was actually in Padstow, in this case served with truffle Parmesan fries lick

I am starting to form this opinion and going less and less to burger restaurants. Half the time I end up deeply disappointed.

To someone looking at that on t'internet, it simply looks revolting.

The chips are covered in mould.

The burger looks obscene. I wouldn't eat that with your mouth and stomach!

From my favourite 'White Hart'. Given it has travelled 6 miles back home in a bag it certainly presents well and tasted fantastic, as usual. This is their classic burger which comes standard with cheese and bacon.

That looks really good - could be a pro photo! I've only ever used the HB in Covent Garden and get a take out (the restaurant is teeny-tiny and CG is somewhat busy). By the time I get back to the flat it isn't quite so photogenic! Tastes damn good though...

With a pint of Wife Beater too?

Seriously though, I kind of agree with you on the appearance front. I'm not a big fan of these thick burger stacks - for two reasons:

1) I don't want to have to don a disposable paper boiler suit to eat it.
2) We know burgers etc. aren't 'health food' so I don't want the side order of guilt trip!

However, I'd lay money on the Atomicburger being the better taste and the Wetherspoons burger looking nothing like their photograph..
