Hi folks, planning a trip to London in June to see Guns N' Roses for my birthday and then a nice lunch on the Sunday.
Coming down from Scotland and not been to London for years.
Got my heart set on Hawksmoor as I was given the book a few years back.

The problem is, which one is best? There appears to be new branches opening all the time. A central one would be preferred and steak will definitely be what I am having.
Which one do you guys recommend?

Personally, I'd got for Seven Dials. Subterranean, dark, atmospheric and I've had the best food there. Very close to Covent Garden tube and you can walk past Pineapple dance studios and gawp at the girls in tight leggings if you're that way inclined.

A close second is Air Street. On a first floor with huge frosted and coloured art deco windows. A bit less atmospheric but maybe it was due to the time of day we visited.

Shoreditch branch is great. Quite like Air Street too for a more central choice. Whatever you do avoid the Knightsbridge one. Crap room, mediocre food and woeful service. Clear evidence they've expanded too far too quickly.

I like seven dials too.

Personally found their steak has gone down a bit the last few times I was there (Air street mainly)

Shoreditch one is the best, bar is well stocked too. Covent Garden one is good ta, but for me Shoreditch has the edge.

The one spelt Goodmans..

If you're set on hawksmore then it really has to be seven dials.

Goodmans is a good alternative. Love their truffle fries.

Do they still do lobster mac 'n' cheese?

Another good alternative is Mashsteak.

Edited to add: if it just has to be Hawksmoor, then Seven Dials or Air Street.

I love the air street one. Art Deco. Lovely environment.

The 7dials is ok but it always feels really noisy in there.

Another vote for Seven Dials.

Yorkshire puddings with bone marrow gravy are highly recommended.

I like Air Street. Dark, atmospheric and with the usual excellent Hawksmoor service.

I am also a fan of Goodman, Gaucho and JW Steakhouse, but Hawksmoor have upped their game in recent years and are back at the top for me.

Thanks folks, I had heard good things about Goodmans but it's going to be Hawksmoor this trip. Looking like Seven Dials is in the lead ahead of Air Street then Spitalfields smile

In terms of food 7 dials and air street are comparable. I think personally air street has the edge but it really boils down to which environment/atmosphere you prefer

Agreed - another vote for Air St here, but only narrowly.

I also recommend Shaky Pete's Ginger Brew as an aperitif.

Not sure about the m&c. When you say Mashsteak, are you talking about Modern American Steak House, the massive place downstairs in Soho ?
