My current bug bear with trying to eat out is.

Everything comes with fking chips and if you want to sit in the garden it's a different (st) menu.

Also some places only bring the food half way and you get "buzzed" when it's ready, fk that.

Anyone recommend a good food pub with garden in Leicestershire/Nottinghamshire/Derbyshire borders!

What I really hate is when you get charged £20 - £25 for steak in a pub, that really is a ripoff.
Here you go.

Sadly, I won't use that chain of pubs after a very unsatisfactory meal and response from said pub. Which is a shame because food used to be pretty good.

That's a a shame, seems to be a feature of chains, that kind of thing. That particular one is, or was, good. My best man lived opposite for a year or so and we used it a lot.

This is my local pub. Great food, not expensive and all the staff look after you. 3 simple things which mean I may not get a table on a Tuesday afternoon if not booked.

One of the simple things I liked was good bread and good olive oil. Only to hear an English voice complain, “no butter?”

Us punters are part of the issue.
Bread and olive oil isn't really their thing either though is it? The oil is on the table to pour on your food like a condiment, not to dip your bread in biggrin

The bread is just there for you to use to eat your food with. Mopping, dipping, spreading or whatever.

Just returned from holiday in Menorca, we went to the same place every night for food, the owner was fastidious about his food and his customer service, he also instilled that same work ethic in his staff..result is very good freshly cooked food, OK maybe not the cheapest but it was worth it for the food/service..and the kitchen remained open till midnight. Try getting a meal in a UK pub beyond 9.00pm..very difficult I would suggest, problem with UK is we don't really understand customer service very well. We in the UK seem to be happy to exist in a Jeremy Kyle style world where the lowest common denominator prescribes the quality/servcice we get..ok rant over thumbup
You missed out! there are some fantastic restaurants in Menorca
It's a bit more tricky for a meat, dairy and egg dodger like me though. I usually stay in Ciutadella and found Fang i Aram to be excellent and Piqniq very good for takeaways, picnics and light lunches. Most other places I just opt for vegetable paella, though I'm fairly sure they typically use chicken/fish stock, but hey-ho... can't sweat the small stuff.

Sticks.

A friend of mine from London won't eat at one of the few nearby pubs which does good food, because of JDW prices.
