Just to throw into the ring.... Purity

As its 'only down the road' from us quite a few of the local pubs and supermarkets (Asda etc) stock the beers - in fact I have a delivery of a couple of mini kegs (Pure Gold & Bunny Hop) and trays (Lawless & Longhorn) arriving tomorrow

Frothy cold lager-wise I really enjoy a pint of Kaltenberg or a bottle of Budvar...but I'll drink anything cold other than the awful British-brewed pseudo-import crap like Brahma.
For a little more flavour, I often choose Sam Adams, and I am a big fan of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.
I rarely buy bottled real ale, but if I am in a real quality pub I never pass up the chance to try what they recommend. Something in the style of Rev James will usually do me.
Through the winter I usually enjoy a bottle or two of Old Peculier because it's incredible.

Indeed. For some reason bottled versions of run-of-the-mill ale doesn't taste quite right, perhaps because well kept cask beer in a pub tastes very good. The current trend for more flavoursome 'craft' beers works better in bottles or cans.
Some easy drinking mass produced lager served extra cold is perfect in hot weather. Although I bought a 4pk of Bud Light for a laugh the other week at that was very poor, tasted much more watery than normal cooking lager.
Been getting this for the past couple of months. clean crisp/fresh lger that's not bad for summertime. Doesn't feel as heavy as tykie/zubr/kastellan you get from the local off license. Meant to be made to german purity laws. At £3.08 for 4 at asda it's cheaper then my local that want £1.15/can. 4.5%ABV.
would welcome if anyone knows if LIDL do something nice that's just as cheap.
I've been liking Brewdog's Electric India - having gone off Brewdog stuff a bit recently. Also enjoying Dr Thirsty's No. 4 Blonde (Wychwood) and Proper Job.
La Goudale is one of my favourites as well, although hard to find over here, and not very summery.
As said above, an amazing variety of great beers from a broad range of brewers are available in regular Supermarkets now - good times.

What would you lot recommend to a whisky drinker who likes the more peaty stuff?
There's a few beers around that have been aged in whisky casks and are bloody lovely. Ola Dubh as mentioned earlier is great, but there's several other about https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...RizzoTheRat said:

I live not too far from the Westerham Brewery, so often stock up on their offerings - latest one was Bohemian Rhapsody pilsner style lager, lovely.
Favourite of theirs is the Double Stout. Brilliant!
Oh, and Curious Brew are brilliant, too. Their IPA goes down a bit lively

For the lager boys, have you tried "curious brew"?
It's a lager from Chapel down that has some serious taste to it.
Stocked at Waitrose for maximum PH points
I bought a couple of boxes at the winery. Nice, but quite a few were cloudy. It's available on draught locally too. Lovely, but what a headache next day. They do an IPA and porter as well (bottles). It's a lager from Chapel down that has some serious taste to it.

Yet to try these - from my local Spar (minus PH points).

This has to be one of my favourites. Needs to be from a bottle and extra chilled. Have had the draught and it's nowhere near as good. It's a lager from Chapel down that has some serious taste to it.

Other bottled favourites are Kirin, little creatures and coopers.
Draught I love deuchars, doom bar and being a londoner can't be a pint of pride if kept well.
