Not as great as it used to be, portion sizes have also got significantly smaller.
Guess they have to pay that massive HMRC tax evasion bill somehow... whistle

Been going there for years - was only there a few months back. Portion sizes have always a been varied between normal and huge. last time it was towards the latter. Still great food though I think they've been taken over in the last year or two as they now take credit card again.

BTW it's in Middlesex Street, just round the corner from Bishopsgate/Old Spittlefields/Liverpool St Station/Aldgate. Might be back there this Saturday as I'm in the neighborhood wink

Oh and My Old Place is about as close as you'll get in this country to authentic Szechuan cooking - it gets very busy, mainly Chinese, not sure about now but you used to not be able to book so you could be queuing outside for 10-20 minutes. Place feels a little tatty, but the food is superb.

China tang or Park Chinois. I prefer the latter but both are very good.

Chilli Cool on Leigh Street is always good.
I've eaten there a few times. Food is very good, and as it's always full of Chinese people and off the main tourist track then I'll guess it's authentic too.

Just to update my previous post.
Portion sizes at My Old Place are as good as ever - was there last Saturday. Food was as good as ever, though prices have risen. I remember when I could get Gon bau Chicken (kung po), rice, and tea for under a tenner. Add dried fried green beans in minced pork (used to be chopped belly pork) and my bill came to £24. Should had the green beans are a main course, not a side dish.

One recent addition I'm not the happiest with, which also points to new owners, there's now a service charge. Having said that the chefs and waitress staff are still mainly the same as before.
