I'm not talking about niche stuff, or being the PM.

What normal jobs do you admire and think you'd be rubbish at?

For me a couple spring to mind. Firstly the police. I would be incredibly frustrated by their "customers" nowadays and admire their patience dealing with the dregs of society that really don't care about others. Talking to a cousin who's a police officer on the beat, the daily grind mostly involves drugs related crime and domestic violence. I don't think I'd be cut out for that.

Secondly, and a little lighter - airline check in staff at 5AM. I'm a miserable bugger at any time, so early in the morning and dealing with stressed and tetchy people - no thanks!

School teacher for me too. It's not just the way kid's behave these days but more the behaviour of parents.

This. My wife is a teacher and she reckons if i was a teacher I'd barely last one lesson before I hit one of them.

I would also be rubbish in a so-called "customer facing role"

I'd be a terrible accountant, financial adviser, or doing any other job that relies on an advanced grasp of mathematics.

I'm a pretty intelligent sort of a chap, but doing a job like that would make me look like a right pillock.

Teacher, Ditto much of the above mentioned, just don't have the patience to work with kids.

Personally, I think I am awful at customer service jobs, I have done them, I have been told however that I am very good customer facing, I honestly don't know how though, misses thinks it's my personality. biggrin

Anyone who works in accident and emergency, don't think you could ever pay me enough.

That and being a teacher......

I'd so agree with you there.

I'm not sure any of these are 'normal' jobs, but:

Surgeons, dentists, proctologists and all that medical stuff, it's not a job but a vocation. Hats off to them.

After leaving college a long time ago I had a fill-in job working for a funeral director, driving hearses and limousines and doing burials and bearing at crematoriums. I think I've been to about 800 funerals, from stillborns to war veterans. I would never have thought I could do that, but I did, and it taught me quite a bit about life.

A total inability to have a 'bad monday morning', being a bit hungover, letting your personal life impact your job performance. Very true, i'd dread that.

When I have a bad morning in my current job, I can just defer the stuff I do, or turn up to the meetings and not be quite as competent.

Not really a normal job I suppose, but I absolutely couldn't be a submariner.

Why not? I dislike people, rarely get out, and like repetitive tasks!

If you dislike people I think being a submariner should be the last job on your list smile
