Sainsburys own brand fresh soap (specifically the Jamaican Jerk Spiced Chicken and Moroccan Spiced Chicken & Chickpea ones) are far far better than anything Glorious offer. The former is more like a stew it's that thick and makes for an excellent lunch if you have access to a micro'. yes
Wow, exotic toiletries indeed. hehe

I am quite a fan of Sainsburys own brand of tuna in sunflower oil and much prefer it to John West's and Princes' own versions which are more expensive.

The tuna shouldn't be any different , its canned in the same plant by princes .
Makes sense - probably the price I was preferring! Certainly didn't notice any increase in quality over the own brand version, but now it's obvious why! hehe

M&S Hot Mustard, the only one that seems to have a bite

Edited to add: Tesco own Horseradish, the rest are just mild. Need that nose clearing experience!

It's owned by Mizkan who just make foods.
It's ultimately owned by Mitsubishi, my Mrs works for them .
From what I can see, they're a privately owned company with a Chairman and CEO who is a direct descendent (or possibly just by coincidence has the same surname!) of the original founder? confused

If you google just Mitsubishi and Mizkan together, you get no results at all with any mention of the two in the same article, so I suspect your beloved has been winding you up! hehe

Lidl crinkle cut low fat crisps - stunners. About 80p for 6. So un-greasy and cooked nice and brown. I am perfectly fine with their ketchup too - and I am quite a ketchup snob and dismiss eating places with cheap cash and carry red vinegar ketchup biggrin

No idea about this tuna, but plenty of factories make products for different retailers / brands to different specs, much more common than the same thing being sold under different labels.

She works for princes , who own the branston brand , princes is owned by Mitsubishi . It's no doubt lost off somewhere in the details but ultimately that's the way it works .

I think you're mixing up Mitsubishi, Princes & Mizkan. AFAIK Mizkan only make foodstuffs, whihc is what I was responding to previously. In the UK, they picked up a bunch of Premier foods brands in 2012, the Branston brand in 2014 & trade under the name Mizkan Euro.

They're also a bunch of tts but that may just be a personal viewpoint.

No. Crosse and Blackwell brand is owned by Princes.
Mizkan owns Branston.

Branston is no longer branded Crosse and Blackwell

The two brand sales were separate.

This is PH. Pedantry matters, often through genuine curiosity. It had completely passed me by that Branston was no longer C&B branded until I looked into it. We aren't having a pop.

Branston beans are licensed to Princes. They're a Mizkan owned brand. Can't tell you why but I do know it's done for various reasons - Princes might have a canning line that prosaically Mizkan don't for example but more usually licensing is done to widen the appeal of old brands & to spice them up with product extensions, so chocolate bars into ice creams or to compliment a main product line, the brand owner doesn't manufacture, so ear phones, cases etc. for tablets and so on.

Brand licensing is a global thing, the above are just a few reasons why it goes on.

It is a bit of a coincidence that Crosse and Blackwell beans slowly disappeared from the shelves and about 6 months later Branston Beans popped out of nowhere.

Crosse and Blackwell beans were also much better than Heinz, and tasted remarkably similar to Branston Beans

Those beers tasted good !
I'm sure the misunderstanding is down to brand licensing etc . I'm just a builder , it's bizzare that I get almost as many answers about who owns the baked bean company as I do about building a house single handed in a country I don't speak the language!

I think most of Lidl own brand stuff is just as good if not better in some cases. (Waiting for the wrath of PH powerfully build directors)

Maybe of the exception of the butter (lurpack rip off), its not very good.
Disagree - the Lidl butter is excellent! smile

Don't judge own brand beans until you have tried Branston Beans.
I do like Branston's but I wish they'd use ring-pull cans.

I entirely agree , concerning Branston, and the ring pulls. Heinz are vile imho, both the beans and the spaghetti. Far too sweet for my tastes.
