Mcdonalds new ordering system
Discussion
The advantage McDonalds has is convenience - they're dotted around all over the place to grab something quick to eat whereas, as far as I've seen, Five Guys tend to be in city centre locations that would mean actually making a deliberate point to go there.
If I'm going out of my way into town then there are endless non chain places I would choose over Five Guys, even in somewhere like Aberdeen.
It's also worth looking for some of the better burger vans - some of them are making some very high quality stuff at sub McDonalds prices.

Prices are getting to be prohibitive for me, just not worth it at all in terms of quality. Chips there seem to be worse and often undercooked now. Plus more often than not if I do drive thru they tell you to go drive round to a bay and wait - defeats the point - probably due to the little armies of delivery drivers waiting inside to take someone a cold burger.
So yeh what used to be a cheap-ish naughty treat is now a huge waste of money. Probs a good thing though to cut out that kind of thing! 🤣
Bit of a moan but it really does seem like most things are declining in quality and increasing in price and winds me up.

The problem with ramping prices up is that one day everything will just snap.
What like the UK has the highest tax burden in history, highest debt for recent history 2.7 trillion. Not seen anyone protesting that. It is consumer world, people just pay without thinking nowadays.not a regular customer, but do like a cheeky mcmuffin meal once in a while, had one yesterday, took along time to get it, i was on foot so instore, waited about 10 mins, was about to ask for my money back and walk out but it arrived, and you couldnt call it cheap anymore,
i dont mind it being crap if its fast and cheap, but now its not cheap or fast amymore.

It's the old Good/Quick/Cheap matrix isn't it. McDs used to sit almost smack bang in the middle of all three. Unfortunately, it's not that cheap, the quality control is shocking so it's usually not that good and it takes far longer than it used to.
Interesting comparison with Five Guys, I agree the gap is closing between a lot of the original fast food retailers and some of the newer "premium" ones.

Microwave the cheese burger.
10 seconds. Flip it over 10 seconds.
Then let it sit for about 1 min.
Its like eating the 1995 version that sat under the heat lamps for half an hour.
Dont do more than 20-25 seconds total though, the cheese cant handle it and turns to liquid.
Don't have a microwave, so the oven does the job. Actually, after a few mins at 180, the buns toast a bit and it's actually an improvement! 10 seconds. Flip it over 10 seconds.

Five Guys does taste better but last time I went a burger fries & shake was £20. It was nice, but not £20 nice. I cant afford to just drop into a Five Guys with two kids for a decent price quick meal as that would be £60!!
That’s why I always get my children water at 5 Guys. Went there the other day with 5 of us, all had the double burger, shared a medium fries between all of us and it was £57. Was gonna be cheaper than the BK next door.Edited by The Gauge on Sunday 25th February 15:00

They need to bring back the quarter pounder deluxe. That was really nice.
There is no reason really why the deluxe versions of all the standard menu items can’t just be on the menu permanently. It’s just a few extra toppings not a whole different burger so doesn’t require an extra work space Gassing Station | Food, Drink & Restaurants | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
