I had one the other day. Nice enough, but seemed like it was missing something - like tomato.

Tomato's have no place on a burger, please close the door on the way out, thank you. mad

Surely you mean tomatoes? wink

Either way it's definitely missing something. Seems a bit one dimensional with pickle/sauce (which also has pickle in), plain cheese and lettuce.

Had cause to complain a couple of weeks back.

10pm order. Not much else to choose fro in the area.

Couple of signature meals and a couple of extras.
Ordered via Drive thru. Had to park and wait so signatures could be done fresh.

Got home, approx 3-4 min drive away to find the signatures mildly warm, everything else stone cold.
I'd flown that morning, been driving and not eaten all day. I was starving. If they were lukewarm I'd have just eaten them but the fries and double cheese were fully and completely cold and the bun hard.
It's quite obvious to me the items were assembled and bagged and forgotten about whilst signatures were prepped.

Phoned politely to explain and got the blame pointed at me for living too far away and what else would I expect?
I explained what I thought had happened and was told his staff wouldn't do that and quite pointedly suggested I was a liar and making things up.
Not being the most patient person and now extremely hungry I made my point in true PH style, the supervisor then agreed to replace at out next visit BUT only the fries and double as I had said the signatures were 'okay'.
I said I wasn't accepting that and I wanted the whole order replaced as we would have to find a replacement meal regardless.
I think when he realised I wasn't some teenage kid he could fob off he conceded and offered the full replacement at a future visit.

Still hungry and increasingly pissed off after the phone call I thought sod it I'll go round now.
The duty manager was on the till and I vented my frustration whilst giving him the opportunity to see how cold the food was as I poured it out on the counter. I was going apest. Proper 'Falling Down' moment. Poor bloke hadn't taken the call but unfortunately was getting the ear bashing.

Anyway they replaced the food and the original cheeky ste brought it to the counter with a rather sheepish look.

I've no doubt they do get people trying it on and need to find a way to manage this however when someone takes the time to ring and talk about an issue, rather than posting it to facebook and shouting compo, just listen, apologise and make right.

AND that is exactly what happens at the drive thru. Watch the video posted above from Leathal Weapon 2. It’s less true than it used to be but it’s still true

I always check the bag before leaving. KFC are the worst for this. At Mcdonolds I had an issue once with missing fries, I was pretty pissed off as I had a stty long day and went savage on the phone to the staff, they told me to go back and when I did they were pretty scared laugh gave me a free big mac meal, extra fries and two Sundays. Pretty damn good service.

I haven't been to BK since I pulled into a drive through and ordered a Whopper Meal and got rinsed for about £9.

Normal BK not a Motorway Services or anything where you'd expect it.

Moto Deals app is useful for getting reasonable priced BK at Moto services, usually it's a meal deal for £3.99 (Whopper meal today, Long Big King meal tomorrow).

I've given up on McD's now as all my local places have a mass of JustEat or Uber eats whatever its called waiting there for some massive order, last time I popped in for a double cheese in Dalston Junction McD there 6 JustEat / Uber eats drivers waiting, took 17min for burger to arrive, Dalston Junction McDs also has security on the door all the time, lovely place.

Back in December I actually had half of my burger missing when I went to KFC! I had a bun with some lettuce, cheese and sauce. Complained and got nothing at all except that they would retrain the people. Haven't been back since.

You seem to have a low opinion of McDonalds. There are one of the largest most successful companies in the world.
I would expect the food to be hot and I can't imagine any 'extras' as you put it for the reason given above.

Be interested to know if you have actual experience of different. No need to quote the entire post.

I've said on other threads but there's a lot of food snobbery around McDonalds IMO.

Is it something you should eat every day? Certainly not.

Is it something where you could trace every piece of your meal to a degree that I suspect you never could at your average restaurant? Almost certainly.

They also seem to do very well at food hygiene ratings, now I've had nice food at places that have done st in inspections so I'm not sure that means all that much, but again I think they get an unduly rough ride given what they are.

You are right, there's no excuse for cold food and you did the correct thing by complaining, however if I'd got home with it and I was tired I would have just bunged it in the microwave and accepted the bad meal as a one-off, rather than bother to ring up and then go back again.

With regards to the 'extras' mentioned above, they are mainly kids working in there as a part time job, so I wouldn't put it past one of them to rub a bun between his err...buns for a customer who has given him an earful!

I used to work for the big M and there was one time i caught a staff member deliberately rolling a veggie patty back under the grill, then collecting it and then it went out to a customer. I pulled him to one side and asked him wtf he was doing. His response "the person who ordered that is my next door neighbour who is a bit of a ". He had put it through the hand wash and dipped it into the vat used for chicken too the animal.

There was the odd "8 second rule" carry on as well. Idiot school leavers who dont really care preparing peoples food, what could possibly go wrong?

Two young trainee managers were sacked for shagging on the dressing table too.

Thats about the worst of it.

This absolutely.

I've not eaten at the Golden Arches for a few years, but of the big chains I'd always go to McD's first, KFC and Burger King franchisees aren't in the same league.

whether mcdonalds is good or not aside, do folks really think that the average un-interested 17 yr old they employ when messing around the back messign about with co workers wouldn't let the odd gob go into a burger or something ?

i don't speak from experience but i speak from what lots of people perceive goes on.

especially at a quiet time when the manager is not watching, and someone is complaining about something making them re do it or whatever.

maybe i have too furtive of an imagination.

Same could be said for any takeaway establishment.

None story

I used to work for BK many years ago and whilst there were a lot of younger staff that had a rather wild outlook on life, I could never ever imagine someone spitting or otherwise on a burger.

I'm not saying it has never happened, it's just probably a lot rarer than you would think. Open plan kitchens, always lots of staff and managers about, prep areas within sight of the customers but regardless of all that, most people want to do a good job.

Ask yourself, if somebody annoyed you at work, would you go and spit in their dinner whilst they weren't looking? of course not. It's just not normal behaviour.
