Serious, who thought that was a good idea!? I mean does anyone choose to steam bacon at home for their sandwiches? This explains a lot. You have deep fat fryers for chips, just drop it in there! biggrin

That said I don't especially like bacon on burgers anyway, which is why BK is quite annoying, all of their big burgers have it on and yes I could get it removed but I'm still paying for it.

It's the fat. Taste isn't too bad, but the texture is horrid.

Come close a few times, but today actually had to pull it out of a breakfast wrap - just thick, stringy undercooked fat.

Blimey, I'd have never thought that. Does explain it though.
They need to get the breakfast wraps sorted out. Too much variation. Back bacon vs bacon rashers, normal hash brown vs wrap hash brown, 4 gallons of sauce one day then a tea spoon the next. I have one every Friday morning and its become a bit of a lottery. And I am getting it from North HQ so it should be bang on but it seems they don't even care there anymore.

This fresh to order thing they have started doing now at most mcds really does mess up the whole idea of fast food. The guys making the food are trying to do it so quickly that the food is just a total mess. The last breakfast wrap I had looked like it had been made by a small dog.

I went into my local a few weeks ago and waited over 20 minutes. It was total chaos. They had 2 people making the food and the rest were just running round and dealing with annoyed customers or making fries. The little timers on the drive through windows now mean if they are running behind they just park you up. And then it snow balls. By my estimation they get 20 seconds to get you away from the window. So if they park you up they don't miss their targets. But the problem is there is not enough time for the guys making the food to physically make the food before you get to the next window. I would say I get parked 80% of the time now, vs 20% a year or two ago. I was parked the other day for 2 hamburgers..

I also ask for no folded egg on my wrap and the number of times I get into the office and guess what... its got egg on it. Its difficult to remove so I ask for them to not put it on for that reason, DSE muff you can just pick it off.

Rant over!

We?

do you work for mcd's or something?

i heard on Burgerlad your getting ovens to cook bacon in?

if you do work for mcd's can you explain the laziness of promotions compared to basically everywhere else in the world? Grand Big mac, with bacon...really imaginative!

Seriously you look at burgerlad website and see what interesting stuff Europe let alone the states get and McD's Uk just regurgitate the same lazy boring stuff over and over...bacon on a big mac, big tasty, repeat flavors in taste of the world/America etc etc.

I might actually venture into mcd's more than once a quarter if something new was on the menu. Is the thinking that the british public know what they like and wouldnt try anything slightly more interesting.

also:

why 2 chicken selects in premium chicken burgers now, doesnt work, not enough meat to bun ratio. cost savings only?

also all day breakfast, when? edit also please bring back big breakfast. i used to love that rubbery goodness. (as mentioned you can count the number of times a year i go in mc'ds for lunch/dinner on one hand, and only then its if theres a new offering, but i used to be partial to a breakfast when going on holiday or a long road trip, but lack of big breakfast ruined it for me frown )

why no loaded fries, mcrib, spicy nuggets, mushroom swiss burgers etc. loads of other countries have them.

All UK burger bacon ends up terrible imo.
Too salty, too wet, too floppy and chewy.
Burger bacon for me needs to be crispy streaky bacon like American breakfast bacon
In general I agree
The crispy bacon you get in five guys is OK
The terribly cooked stuff in McDonalds is vile. It's an insult to the poor pigs that gave their lives to become it.
american bacon is rank. shards of salt is not pleasant. what they should do if they cant cook British bacon properly, is just use Canadian bacon. would be right shape on a burger too.

And also a rip off!

5 selects cost what, £4-5 quid?
Similar price to a burger but 2.5x the meat

This, the McDonalds UK promos are so dull and uninspired. I know they are restricted to a degree by what the cooking equipment can do, but some of the specials I had in Singapore and Bangkok recently were fab, had me going back several times. Generally little more than an Asian sauce of some sort and unusual milkshake flavours etc, but still way more adventurous than UK McDonalds.

Have a look at Honest Burger and their monthly special, this month it is a poutine burger, haven't tried it yet but will do soon.

A lot of the specials around Europe are so much more imaginative too. The UK rolls out the big tasty that much it might as well be permanent. They need to bring back the likes of the M burger and the CBO

I wonder if the UK will ever get MyBurger where you can make your own burger from just about every ingredient in the kitchen then save it so yeah you can order over and over again.

I think it's a bit unfair to compare McDonald's with Honest Burger laugh McDonald's is cheap, quick, consistent, they aren't a gourmet burger restaurant.

I just meant the imaginative monthly specials.
And I guess the local specials they do too.
If a small chain can do that then one with the logistics of McDonalds ought to be a bit more switched on when it comes to ordering in a few more imaginative special burger sauces or ingredients for promos than they do now.

It's actually quite the opposite. If you've got 10 stores it is easy to be flexible and make changes, if you're a behemoth like McDonald's it is a logistical and training nightmare to stray too far from the normal menu, especially on a monthly basis.

that is a bit of an unfair comparison, as is asia, as they have some weird sh*t in mcds there, but the comparison with europe and the states is perfectly valid.

Bring back the Chicken Premiere!!

Also, for those who enjoy a Zinger Tower burger, try and replace the salsa with supercharger sauce instead, that's my go to and it's beaut (shame about the bun and fries though).

No, we're adults with budgets and bills so we can't afford to spend £18 for a McD's.
