My Dad used to take me as a treat, every so often, when I was a kid (30-odd years ago).

I remember a certain burger being the best thing I ever ate... Not that I can remember what it was called!

Haven't been in well over a decade but it'll be a sad day for me when they're all gone frown

However, I do remember my trucker mates referring to it as the Little Thief.
Magnificent 7 IIRC. My Grandparents used to take us there, and Happy Eater which closed, what, 30 years ago now.

7th Heaven, maybe?

Either way - it was good... well, to my young taste buds anyway!

To think I'm almost 40 now!

The 7 I think referred to it’s diameter in inches - as a van driver in the eighties I regularly had one at Scotch Corner when running up to Gateshead.
Shame it’s gone, the Americans have invaded

They did seem to get quite expensive quite quickly in the last few years,, but this may have been in their attempts to maintain an operating profits when the people through the doors started to decline, I often used them when driving around the UK for a living, and they did not seem so expensive then (quite good value for money in fact) As others have stated their Olympic breakfast always seemed like decent meal in times past.
Certainly when compared to the modern chains. The worst for food and VFM seems to be the crap food outlets at motorway service stations
Has anyone noticed how the burger/sub,etc that one actually gets given, looks nothing like the burger/sub we see in the adverts for the various burgers, and /subs? I wonder if they load them up big time for burger / subs shown in the adverts,
McD's have a video on Youtube showing how they prep their burgers for photos, it's all trickery via placing of the ingredients
You've reminded me of being in the Burger King in Salisbury many years ago. We'd gone in mid afternoon, and were eating in a booth when a chap came in with his young son and ordered. The order came, they sat down to eat, but within seconds the dad was up at the counter again. A debate began with the counter staff, which involved lots of arm waving, and pointing at the photos on the menu board above the counter. The debate got more heated, and the manager was summoned. As the dad got more irate at not getting the matter sorted to his satisfaction, he got louder, and more wild-eyed. His point (a good one, really) was that his burger in no way resembled the one on the menu photograph, neither in size nor content. But his confrontational attitude wasn't getting results. He was also a bit dim when it came to understanding the concept of "not actual size".

Anyway, I was enjoying the floor show, but my wife is very non-confrontational, so she wanted us to finish up and leave. As we walked away, a police car (remember seeing those back in the day?) pulled up outside Burger King. I've no idea if he (the dad) had kicked off physically, but his threatening manner must have been enough to prompt someone to dial 999. And all over a beef patty in a bun that didn't look like the menu picture. Goodness knows what the bloke was thinking too, getting lairy like that in front of his son who was only about 8 years old.

I was in a travelodge next to one a year or so ago so I popped in for dinner.
Their apparent demise was obvious even then, the menu and the quality of the food was very firmly stuck in the past. The competition has disappeared into the distance in relative terms, while LC failed to change at all.
It was quite disappointing all told and I was left wishing I'd been to the BP next door for a sandwich.
