Have to admit I did use to enjoy Red Bull and Vodka on a night out until about 10 years ago.
Drank a fair few on a stag do and two weeks later collapsed at home with Atrial Fibrillation, had to be jump started and haven't touched the stuff since.

Sorry about that, Im pretty sure its just a bot, as it never leaves anything more than 2/3 lines of shyte, and its just getting tiresome. Every thread on Ph ,it chimes in with its usual rubbish and then disappears......

Noticed a sign in Morrisons saying that from Monday they won't be sold to under 16s.

When I was younger and working in hotels we used to smash through energy drinks, to get through the long hours, sometimes teamed up with Pro Plus which is ridiculous looking back!

I used to also go to car club meets after a 16 hr shift, home at 3am and then up at 7am to get to the meet, then a days feisty driving. That used to be RedBull or Monster fueled. Again not wise.

These days I live on coffee, and keep clear of Energy drinks apart from occasionally. I actually really like Red Bull and do enjoy it.

My lad's school "discourages" students from drinking energy drinks during school due the massive high and then lows the kids suffer during the day as first the caffeine and sugar kick in and then leech out of the system especially when combined with teenage hormones!

My lad thinks they are all st anyway "full of sugar Dad"...he munches his way through a box of 20 mini doughnuts on his way home judging by contents of his bedroom bin rolleyes

The caffeine levels in most "energy" drinks is actually lower than coffee and not much higher than tea.

Can of Red Bull has 80mg of caffeine.

Mug of Tea is around 70mg.

Mug of Instant Coffee is around 100mg.

Get into the coffee shop however and things rocket ....

Large Americano from Starbucks .... 300mg
Large Americano from Costa..... 370mg
Large Americano from Costa with extra shot ... 460mg - or nearly 8 cans of Red Bull !

I usually have 1 can of Redbull most days, I don’t drink tea or coffee and very rarely drink any other sugary drinks so doubt it’ll kill me.

2 redbulls before a marathon race and one at the 20mile mark if I am suffering. I usually am.

You are a terrible parent.

Get him on the full-size ones, 50p for 5 in the supermarket.

The only time I ever drink them is on long drives (I don’t really drink hot drinks), so probably 5 or 6 cans a year. I’ll only ever buy Red Bull as the size of the Monster cans just looks like a bad idea.

I must say, it does seem to work, at least as a short-term fix. I’ve only ever tried the full-sugar Red Bull; with my low consumption of the stuff I want the proper experience and don’t want any of that diet rubbish. biggrin Do the sugar-free ones even work?!

I really wouldn’t recommend drinking tons of the things though - becoming reliant on them to not fall asleep at your desk would be grim.

Used to live off the things, along with Pro Plus tablets, when I was at Uni, worked night, went Uni during the day and partied at the weekends. Went through many times of feeling shaky.

Have heard rumours of a few people that have had heart attacks off them but never seen the actual evidence or knew anyone personally, all my friends were doing the same thing at the time.

These days I still burn the candle from both ends, as well as in the middle, but I drink water now or sugar free fizzy pop. As you get older the gut catches up with you and you start to think a little more about next year rather than the next hour.

I went from working 30 hours a week for somebody else to running my own business working 70+ hours a week, I drank a lot of energy drinks in the early days but only coffee now.

They do have their place at times.

I used to know a guy who told me that after returning from a long haul flight to Heathrow, drank 2 redbulls and subsequently rolled his car on the motorway home. Apparently when they were cutting him out of the car they were expecting a cold body.

Ex work colleague used to go through 1 or 2 of the 1 litre bottles of Asda own Energy drink (blue charge I think it was) and had a stroke at the age of 26 which was attributed to the energy drinks and Greggs lunch every day.

Safe to say he hasn't touched it since.
