I used to know a guy who told me that after returning from a long haul flight to Heathrow, drank 2 redbulls and subsequently rolled his car on the motorway home. Apparently when they were cutting him out of the car they were expecting a cold body.
I know a guy who ate a salad and then rolled his car as well....

I''m actually getting some stick from a couple of co-workers for the 39p EMERGE that i drink once every day at work. it's the only time i ever have an energy drink. it's not something i depend on but rather the cheapest flavoured drink in the shop..

can of coke/pepsi? twice the price.
water? no need, there's a tap
flavoured water, juice or fizzy drink? nearly £1.

red bull, retentless, and monster? all over £1.

I've never rolled a car and I ask for a double shot when I have a coffee.
Did the stains come out of the head lining?

I don't understand the logic of this, you'd rather drink something full of sugar and/or sweeteners and loads of caffeine you don't need than have a glass of water?

Cheap energy drinks taste like hairspray and they dehydrate you.

Still having one a day here. Sugar free monster.

The only thing that concerns me is the following per can:

NIACIN (VIT B3) - 266% RDA
Patothenic Acid Vit B5) - 350% RDA
Vitamin B6 - 286% RDA
Vitamin B12 - 500% RDA

Not sure what the long term impact is of these Vitamins breaching recommended daily allowances. Assuming i just piss it out if my body does not absorb it.

yeah you can't really overdose on vitamins, the RDA is a minimum number rather than a maximum.

Wrong, vitamin B6 is actually one of the worst which can lead to nerve toxicity.

I just had a quick look and the problems with B6 seem to be directly attributed to supplements. It'll pass through the body in the same way as anything else if it's in food or drinks. I might have misread it though.

I'm pretty sure food manufacturers wouldn't be allowed to put more than 100% of the rda into a product if it was proven to be harmful.

If you were to ingest 30 cans of that particular energy drink at once - you could possibly be at risk of B6 toxicity...

Quite, but I was pointing out that it is possible to OD on vitamins, contrary to the prior post.

I had the feeling it was pedantry laugh.

I'll amend it to say you can't overdose on vitamins apart from in very specific circumstances that aren't relevant to the question asked. Is that better?

Yep

"Vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) causes neuropathy at intakes of 1000 mg per day or more, which is about 800 times the daily intake from foods. There have also been occasional reports of toxicity at intakes of 100-300 mg per day."

This can in front of me now has 4mg.

I still cannot see what the issue is with one of these a day.....despite people airing their opinions about people have a st tolerance to caffeine.

You can also overdose on water and die from Hyponatremia, but I don't think that happens to huge swathes of the population either!

The rise of 'healthy' more natural energy drinks seem to be the craze at the moment. I have moved from Sugar Free monster to Tenzing now which is apparently all natural...

I drink about 5 energy drinks a week and I ain't dying yet.

I drink it as substitute to coffee because coffee tastes like bitter piss to me ( I can assure you 911motorsport wasn't near the kettle at the time of brewing wink )

i remember in secondary school id buy 500ml cans of ben shaws cream soda (because it was the same price as a 330ml can, so better value). a couple of times some teachers did come up to me thinking I was drinking beer. i thought it was hilarious.

And there I was anticipating a discussion of which energy drink was nicest...!

Cherry Relentless, or the Valentino Rossi edition Monster. Both quite pleasant, infinitely more so than the standard Red Bull or Monster varieties.

Wouldn't want to drink them regularly, but I do keep a can or two in the car for the odd occasion where both the working day and the drive home are unusually long.
